Is it true ? "琴 (Guqin) 是弹给自己听的,筝 (Guzheng) 是弹给别人听的"

In the classical times, respected gentlemen (君子) are known to play the Guqin to express their emotions.

西遊記 ?

hmmm to some extent what you said is true  "琴 (Guqin) 是弹给自己听的,筝 (Guzheng) 是弹给别人听的"

琴 is smaller while 筝 is bigger (not easy to bring around) .

so in olden days, gentlemen will carry 琴 around and travel and usually the "better to do" one can afford.

The music produced also different . 筝 has more base (more string) . 琴 usually have G / D cord .

hence 筝 sound nicer in a hall area .......

UFM 100.3 is having a repeat broadcast of their countdown of top 1000 chinese songs (as voted). It's happening daily. So take a listen to enjoy some songs we heard in our youth.
