New BMW 218i Coupe

have been riding this new ride for 2 weeks. RFT tyre a real noise.... else is ok. I got the beige cushion. looks good but i have seen some spots that cannot be cleaned. sending to PML tomorrow for checking.

 

I think black is safer.... but i like the beige looks a bit spacious inside.

Yea, read about rft being noisy. How about soundproofing of car?

 

Did you get other options? Like the M package, sat nav etc.

Read alot of reviews about the 2 series being fun to drive compared to the rest of the line (many reviews rate it as a awesome car for fun factor but less so for practicality) and just placed an order for the 228i. Really looking forward to this as its my first car. For the guy above, rft is run flat tyres. Many users recommend to go for performance tyres instead for these models for a better ride/ better handling.

 

Sound proofing is very good for the hard top. Not as good for the cabriolet.

For an entry beemer, the refinement is better than expectations

 

Not so sure what is the listed price for the 228i, but have you considered the M235i? Pricing should be pretty close

Bro, how are your rfts on the MCS compared to standard tires? I'm thinking to change to normal ones once its wears out

Indeed, though any normal tyres (non performance) of decent quality would deliver much better noise levels than runflats.

RFT makes the ride bumpy even on sport suspension.

 

I have change to PSS now. Steering becomes heavier (which i love it). I can take sharp corner at higher speed than before. The only downside is expensive.

Wow. Haha. That's a great decision! Haha. But as the bro above said, did you consider the 235? Also, did u go for any options?

 

I was also thinking about 218 vs 220/228, but the price for the 218 is really good. Not sure if I will be hungry for power though. Haha. Still thinking about it.

 

Read a lot on how noisy rft is and lots of recommendations on changing them out. Do you intend to get spares if you change out of rft?

 

Did the SE advise how long you need to wait for collection of car?

i ended up paying pretty to to the asking price for the m235i because i added a whole bunch of stuff based on what i read about in reviews and the 2addicts forums. Also, wife would not let me go for the m235i HAH! oh well. read lots of good things about the 228i being sort of the best of both worlds though, and that convinced me. this article in particular:

PSS seems like the numero uno of roads tires at the moment... every other driver's car is using it..

 

Surprised steering got heavier, thought rfts are heavy with stiff side walls

The 220i and above also come with lots of options in on top of the bigger engine though, so i guess that makes up for the difference.

 

why not you test drive and decide? check out the 2 addicts forums. according to the guys there, the adaptive suspension and variable sports steering are really important for the fun to drive component, along with decent tyres. (most of these items are optional and you need to ask to add them in, which i did.) Since its my first car, i wanted to make sure i don't have any buyers remorse since i plan to use it for 4 years at least.

 

I intend to change the tyres within a month. gonna drive the rft first since i wanna understand what the difference is exactly and why mss tyres are so hyped by online forumers when i finally do switch.

 

I placed order last month. was told i can collect in dec.

That's because PSS has bigger footprint than Conti RFT. With PSS, I take corner more aggressive than before.

Sempai, any good reliable places to change tyres to PSS? workmanship most impt.

 

Which model are you using the PSS with btw? and would you said its immediately noticeable?
