You want some serious bang for buck, Ford Mondeo... but FC not particularly good.

Below it is Ford Focus, also bang for buck. I find the Peugeot 308 also really fantastic value for money since its fuel economy is very good with low road tax... not to mention lots of cool features like 7" touchscreen with 6 speakers, self-parking function and safety features include blind-spot monitoring as well as airbags all around.

KIA's Forte K3 also very good value for money due to the equipment and luxuries... but fuel efficiency something to be desired.

Now no more Avante... now is Hyundai Elantra. That car is bang for buck but quite basic, fuel efficiency similar to the Forte K3. If you don't mind spending more money, the i40 wagon is far far better value for money overall imho. Fuel efficiency not so stellar, but 9 airbags!!

If safety and fuel consumption come above all else, maybe consider Volvo V40 D2. Small and cramped imo, but diesel economy is incredible and Volvo is definitely very safe.

Your key words are

Bang for buck

Value for money

Fuel economy

Sits 4 comfortably

If you want fuel economy, then stick to Cat A cars.

Value for money - if $9K dep or less annually is OK with you, here's the pick*

1. Suzuki Solio 1.2

2. Nissan Note 1.2

3. Nissan Almera 1.5

4. Perodua Axia 1.0 (lowest annual dep of $8.2K)

*automatic transmission

PS: I left out Hyundai Accent as the rear leg room not as spacious as the above choices.

# Noticed that you wrote " the lower the better "

Based on price advantage, go for Chery Fulwin 1.5 at $78K incl COE.

The new Acotec engine is co developed with Alfa Romeo, the salesman told me.

If safety is a concern, then opel astra will be good, very good. price bang for buck for the car. Go to the showroom and not just look at the price on sgcarmart.

when you meant the lower the better, i interpret it as ride height.. as close to the ground as possible.. [:p]

for fuel economy have to get the jap models liao.. most can achieve 17-18km/L in real figures.. (cat A only)

mz2 is my suggestion..

I dunno....seems like a lot of people out there got money to buy car but can't decide what car to buy....

This one takes the cake though. Throw in requirements and call for tender. So simple, brain can relax...

TS:

first you must let us know what is your budget..... new or used or COE?.....

if based on your following:

What car is value for money? (car is a liability..... no value..... after 10 years say goodbye!!!!!)

Any bang for the buck buys? (Yes..... for seller and banker.....)

A or cat b is fine. (any horsepower will do????? seems like any car able to move is acceptable)
Fuel economy n safety is important. (Hybrid or diesel for fuel economy..... car safety features is not foolproof..... driver is the main problem!!!!! Suggest go for defensive driving course instead?????)

Must be able to seat at least four comfortably. (other than sports car..... a compact hatchback can seat 2 adult in the rear comfortably)

the lower the better. (lower price or lower height?????

Sushi kimchi prata also can. (how about pizza and hamburger?????)

How is Hyundai avante? (book for a test drive or can try PRIME or UBER)

guess you have to narrow down your priority before able to sound advice.....

Since you absolutely have no idea on what cars you 're interested in, I suggest you rent different model of cars for a couple of days. Least you can narrow downthe models you 're interested in.

I think I will shortlist to kimchi n They are lower priced n yet seem to have 1.5 or 1.6 engines with reasonable amount of airbags. Hoping to pay up as much as possibles rom the start.sorry for the confusion, as low as possible, I meant price, nor car height. Thanks for the inputs.

This is to replace my mums car if it matters, I am driving another car.

Assuming typical Asian matron body frame (slim ya?), simple and no frills required. Relatively Safe and good view, easy to park. Power to manage expressways. Can bring mahjong friends and the occasional grandchild.

Do not want a large car.

So cat A, Rush/Terios, what is that Honda PI sliding doors model? the Vezel, the Subaru QV ( too big?)

Cannot think of any smaller SUV clones. The joke cannot, too curvy, the soul too noisy.

Unless you want to think sedans. I would get SUV clones though. Easier to get in and out.
