Forester seem best value for money

Qq1.2 seem to have the power loss issue. Not sure if it's resolved.

Best in class should be harrier. Pity only PI.

Lower selling doesn't mean value as it has very low OMV and lesser features .

Agreed wholeheartedly , if not for PI, i would have gone for it, so many on d road, so it cannot go wrong, peoples make right choices and I bet it would go a long way to prove otherwise, i bet Kimchi coming in strong on Tucson and Kia Sportage and Sorento. [thumbsup]

Not only that. Price does matter too. If a person can or willing to afford a 150k car like Harrier, that will open up more choices. Why not include Q7?

Comparing a 150k vs a 115k car price range is not an apple to apple comparision.

More like which CUV you would pick?
Based on the 3, I would definitely choose the Vezel. Else, Mazda CX-5. Only Subarus that I would consider is the turbocharged 2L ones. [sly]

XV is 1.6 at $111,800

I chose XV among the whole list because of following reasons:

- Made in Japan

- Sold by AD

- Out in market long enough so that should not have any more teething problems (e.g. Vezel is quite new; have had a recall for its Hybrid version; its cousin Jazz/Fit 1.5 using same/similar eninge also had recent recall; similarly for QQ 1.2T which has recent problems in Singapore)

- Boxer engine and full-time All Wheel drive for good driving experience (cheap way to get Audi Quattro type of driving experience) e.g. good cornerinng, good wet weather driving, good rally-like driving expereince for gravel/track roads

- close to real SUV in terms of AWD and high ground clearance (good for soft-roading but not for rock climbing) - good enough for kampong roads, mud and sand

- High safety rating

At the time I was looking, ASX Cat B COE not that low yet.  So not sure how it compares (probably meets quite a few of above criteria also) but higher tax and other costs of 2.0L in ASX vs 1.6L in XV.

Subaru XV is the exact same Impreza 5door only jacked up in height, did not even try to redesign to whole car. At least QQ and Vezel design is unique to their cousin, sibling or whatsoever.

Subaru NA boxer engine is really nothing. The all wheel drive adds weight and zap up power it's slow and sluggish, FC will be bad. The difference in Audi Quattro is that all their models are TC with high BHP and Torque to compensate the all wheel drive inefficiency. The drive experience is totally different.

Looking at the spec, it weighs 1,410kg with only 113bhp and 150NM torque compare to Vezel at 1,190kg, 129bhp, 155NM torque and QQ at 1,285kg, 114bhp, 165NM. It simply just too heavy and under power.

Unless they put in the new Levorg 1.6GT-S engine or their 2.0XT then maybe can consider.

Only a Subaru WRX is a WRX not Subaru cars are WRX.

sorry , its sorento or nothing....for me. :meaw:

Can share why Sorento? Why, in you opinion, its better than its competitors? I read the reviews and looked at the pics, they mention lukewarm handling, plasticky interior and of course high price.

Budget for the original poster is up to $114K.

If can get Harrier, Tucson, Sportage, Sorento, Kuga for $114K, I will also get straight away.

But seriously for the $114K budget and his selection of larger size able to seat 5 adults comfortably, thenn the choices for SUV/Crossover are basically the foilowing:

AD Cars

=======

CAT A

- Subaru XV (Made in Japan)

- Nissan QQ 1.4T (Made in UK, UK design, French engine)

- Suzuki S-Cross (Made in Hungary)

CAT B (if CAT B COE don't go up and stay near CAT A)

- Mitsubishi ASX (Made in Japan)

PI Cars

======

- Honda Vezel 1.5 (Made in Japan)

[i leave out Juke and Cactus as too small]

Note - some prices you see in Sgcarmart are COE guaranteed and some are non-guaranteed - hence, not apple to apple comparison.

Vezel 1,5 X $108k<

Qashqai 1.2 Turbo 114k<

ASX 2.0 $111k<

Looks like the ASX a better deal? What's your chioce?

I think TS is only asking for a choice among the three given?  Otherwise he/she would've given us more to choose from?

I'll just pick one of them though none will be my choice at the moment.

HONDA Vezel [thumbsup]

Different strokes for different folks. To determine which car best suits a driver/buyer, best to identify the list of needs and requirements for the use of the car in one's daily life. To some look & image is most impt; to others performance & drive; while some may focus on cost of ownership as key aspect in decision making.  Every car will have its likers and followers. Got to use the head and go with the heart in buying a car. Just think - If you have to see/use it everyday for the next 10 years., what will it be?

If these three are the only option, go for the test drive and follow your heart. At the same time, do some research on the pros and cons of these three crossovers.
