I saw the Smove lots in some malls before. Can be an easy way to do shopping without worrying about parking.

Do you have commercial vehicles like vans? I need this occasionally.

I got a punctured tire/flat battery/breakdown. What do I do?

Please call us immediately at 6423 0068. For punctured tyres or car breakdown, customers are required to minimally pay a $50 service fee for on-road assistance. On top of this, the cost of repair or replacement of car parts shall also be charged to the customer. However if it is due to normal wear and tear, all charges are waived and borne by us.

if not because of accident, shouldn't the punctured tire/flat battery/breakdown cause by wear and tear? many people still dun understand how the hybrid car works.

i find this term a bit different to understand or accept .

What's the diff between this n all the other car sharing companies that already exist?

Hi Soya!

Thank you for your interest in smove! :D

Car rental and traditional car-sharing is still not the most convenient or user-friendly model. Here’s how smove car sharing matches up with the rest:

Administration and fees:

Usual car sharing companies:
- Usually involves heading down to the office for paper work
- Charges monthly registration fees or sets a compulsory minimum spending per month
- Collects deposits

smove:
- No paperwork, everything done online
- No registration/monthly fees and no minimum spending
- No deposits

Booking Charges:

Usual car sharing companies:
- Charges are based on time and customers are charged additionally for mileage/fuel etc
- Charges bunch of extras for calling hotline, not topping up petrol before returning
- Low cap for free mileage (e.g 100km for 24 hours)
- Additional surcharge for public holidays
- Different rate plans for weekdays and weekends

smove:
- One simple all-in pricing with petrol and insurance included, no hidden charges
- No charges for calling our friendly hotline for assistance, no need to top up fuel before returning
- High cap for free mileage (e.g 300km for 24 hours)
- No surcharge for public holidays
- Same rate plans for weekdays, weekends and even public holidays

Booking Flexibility:

Usual car sharing companies:
- Usually either a minimum booking duration of 1 day and 3 days for weekends
- Bookings to be made up to 2 months in advance

smove:
- Allows short bookings from 1 hour to a full day on any day of the week
- Start a trip any time between 07:00 - 23:45, and get to return it at any time
- Bookings can be made up to a year in advance

Return flexibility:

Usual car sharing companies:
- Must return to either office location, or same location where you picked up

smove:
- Return to any smove location, no need to return to the same location you picked up

smove is working hard to usher in the car-sharing revolution in Singapore and make car-sharing a reliable, convenient and fun experience for everyone. :)

Hope this answers your question!

Hi Seohster!

Great to know that you've seen smove around! :D We do have a lot of customers who use our cars regularly to run errands at multiple locations. It works out to be cheaper and more convenient than taking multiple taxi trips. :)

To keep things simple for our customers, we only use one type in our fleet. We have the Toyota Prius C, which is a hybrid 5-seater hatchback. It will not compare to a van's space though. If it helps, the back seats can be folded down for more boot space too. :)

Hope to have you onboard with us next time! :)

Yalor. Very dicey and can lead to a lot of disagreement as to what is wear & tear and what is truly caused by the previous user. Car rental is different as the condition is assessed before pick up and upon return so the new renter doesn't 'inherit' the problem(s). Car sharing is automated and how to know if the problem already exists? Doubt the previous "sharer" gonna report damages caused by them.

Plus, if hybrid battery kaputz while one is driving it, does it mean he/she has to pay $10k to smove for the replacement batt?

Who pays for parking and ERP charges?

All parking and ERP charges are borne by the customer. For delivery orders, we will pay for the time from when the car entered the car park until your booking start time. This amount will be reimbursed to you by deducting it from your bill for that month.

Does Smove have valid season parking in all the pick up location?

Hi Jman888!

Punctured tire/flat battery/breakdown could be due to a variety of reasons. For example, tire punctured could be due to driving over sharp objects, flat battery could be due to not switching off lights etc. This will be assessed by our operator upon inspection. :)

Will the operator inspect the car prior to the next customer taking the car? some time it could be due to a hidden nail at inner side wall which took a while to punctured, also lights should be auto cut off when engine is off for a period of time.

like Soya mentioned, it is very difficult to penalize a customer who took a car for say 2 hours and thing just happen without him causing any accident.

Hi there!

We have a very simple rule to keep things simple for customers :)

1. If the car is punctured with a visible nail or rupture, that is easily assessed on the spot and not due to wear and tear. In this case, customers can call us for on-road assistance and a $50 service charge will be levied. If the tyre can be patched back, we will not charge the customer for repair. However, if it needs to be replaced, the tyre cost will be charged.

2. If the car tyre is simply deflated with no visible puncture, we will give the customer the benefit of the doubt and provide the assistance free of charge :)

3. Our cars are usually checked by our smove operators before and after every trip. If you spot any significant damage (paint work damaged or dents or flat tyres) customers just need to take a photo and send to support.sg before they begin. Otherwise any damage found by our operators after that will have to be the customer's responsibility. So just cover yourself by checking the car before driving off :)

4. Hybrid cars are extremely reliable. The hybrid battery does not go flat suddenly. Even if it does, the car can still be driven and operated normally (just with loss of some power). All issues with the hybrid battery are smove's responsibility, unless there was a major accident which affected the battery. In this case the insurance would cover most of the cost.

Hope this answers your questions!

Hi!

Yes our operators inspect the cars before every booking usually. We do have some cars where the lights do not cut off automatically but the car will not allow you to lock it if the headlights are left on. Similarly interior lights do not switch off automatically in our cars.

We just want to assure you that if we do not spot any visible puncture or nail in the tyre, we will give customers the benefit of doubt and will not hastily charge without talking to the customer and doing our assessment of the situation.

Customers just need to cover themselves by making a thorough check of the car before starting their trip. If you spot any damages, just take a photo and send it to support.sg or give us a call for assistance.

Thanks!

I don't own an EZlink card, cannot sign up?

Hi Loki!

The ezlink card is to be used to lock and unlock the car. However, as long as it is a card (cashcard, debit card etc) with the CEPAS logo, they will work too!

cepas.jpg

Any CEPAS cards will have a 16-digit CAN number unique to each card. During the sign-up, you're required to enter the 16-digit CAN number. This number will be sent to the car assigned to your booking, and only your card will be able to unlock the car. :)

Hope this helps answer your question!

Does Smove have valid season parking in all the pick up location?

We do not have season parking in all the pick up locations. For locations where we do not have season parking, we will reimburse parking charges from when the operator parks the car, up to the customer's booking start time.

At least 15 minutes before the start of the customer's trip, he will receive an SMS with car plate number, parking lot number, and parking charges. These parking charges will be deducted directly from the customer's bill with us. :)

Any additional parking charges incurred due to the customer retrieving the car late, will have to be borne by the customer. Similarly, any parking or ERP charges incurred during the trip will have to be borne by the customer too. :)

for nail puncture, it may not be flat immediately but over a period of time.... happened to me once... there was a nail and i had to pump my tyre every 2 weeks due to loss of air......after a month i sense it is not right then i went to tyre shop... and because the nail is deep inside, there is no way to actually see the nail unless the tyre is removed...

For the time being, we do not allow driving of our cars into Malaysia due to insurance restrictions. We might look into that in the future though! :)
