SINGAPORE: A Singapore-licenced car was involved in a car crash in Mersing, Malaysia on Friday morning (Dec 25) that killed all its passengers except for a boy, according to eyewitnesses and media reports.

The witness, Yang Yu Hua, a Kota Tinggi resident, told Channel NewsAsia he drove past the accident site around 6.30am while the Singapore car was in flames. Passengers from a Malaysian car involved in the collision were pulling a boy out of the wreckage.

Yang said he stopped to help and that there were no other survivors in the Singapore car. He then took the boy, who appeared physically unscathed, to Kota Tinggi Hospital. Yang, who speaks only Mandarin, said the boy was around five years old, did not seem to understand him and could only repeatedly say: “I don’t know”.

Yang left the boy at the hospital an hour after dropping him off.

Malaysian news agency Bernama reported that four people were burnt to death after two vehicles collided at the Sungai Dohol bridge.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department's operations assistant director, Mohd Rizal Buang, said a man, two women and a child died in the accident involving a Singapore-registered Land Rover carrying a Singaporean family and a Toyota Corolla car bearing a Malaysian licence plate.

The two vehicles caught fire after the crash, he said, adding that the burnt bodies of a man, a woman and a child were found in the Land Rover and the burnt body of a woman was found in the Toyota Corolla.

Mohd Rizal said a child was rescued from the Land Rover by other road users and sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital.

He said the Land Rover, heading for Mersing, is believed to have hit a road signboard near the bridge and collided onto the oncoming Toyota Corolla that was going towards Kota Tinggi.

Accident happened so early in the morning ....

Could be the driver still in sleepy condition while driving ... :ouch-it-hurts:

Witness spotted that accident at 6.30am and the driver could have made 45 minutes journey from Causeway which also indicate that they could have left their home at 5.00am. :wut:

A very sad case where a family just gone like that leaving a 5 yrs old boy..... :TT_TT:

and no family member would want that to happen .  :whisper:

Sad news. The woman in the corolla was probably trapped by the wreckage.

I thought it's not common to have fires after collisions?

Old land Rover?
