Reasonable labour charge for changing upper control arm?

what car? and what is the problem with the control arm? Bushing or ball joint?

Usually you change it as a pair even though you can buy one and change one alone. Unlike shocks which must be bought and usually changed as a pair.

$100 bucks for a pair is ok. but slightly on the higher side.

Any W/S to recommend?

I will change two.

It is bushing. But since there is no W/S will change the bushing, I have to buy the whole arm to change. It is about $25/arm only.

$25 an arm is cheap. orig?

does it come with ball joint or its separate? meaning you will reuse the old ball joint if it does not come with one? this adds to cost as well.

What car is this?

Taiwan OEM one, not original.

I had bought one low control arm before, quality is quite good.

It comes with ball joint as well, the whole assembly.

actually there is, just that they will advice against it cos they usually need to send it elsewhere to "push" in the bushing. So will/might cost more in the end  :D more work for them too. change arms much more straightforward

$100 is reasonable if a standalone job. But if part of suspension refesh, then its exp.

Agreed. And the cost for bushing alone is not cheap too. May as well change the whole arm.

Most of the time, I feel that the labour cost is always > the part.

Thank you for the feedback.

I see whether I can try to squeeze the sway bar end link and sway bar bushing for the same price.

I was quoted 900 by a dealer (for BMW 2 series) . I took it to another place that just does shocks and brakes, etc. They told me that the  dealers are just making money for nothing. I just needed a couple new bushings. I got my car fixed for $ 220 and that included a ball joint too. If  your mechanic is  quoting  $40-50 per arm then you must go for it.
