Treetop Walk

Hiked up to Treetop Walk yesterday with my son and yes, it was tough.

We started off from McRitchie reservour carpark and the distance was about 5.4km through the forest trail. The whole hike took 3 hours and we were both aching all over . . . not easy but quite enjoyable.  [grin]

You guys should try but leave your toddlers at home, this trip is more suitable for older kids, teenagers perhaps?

P.S. 5.4km was just to get there, to and fro is total 11km.

Start off from macritchie to treetop is a longer route and it is confirmed not an easy walk. If you start off from Venus Dr would be shorter.

It is advisable to carry a water bottle.

Confirmed you need to carry water bottle, unless you are a camel.

In case forgotten to bring water bottle, there're 2 water coolers at the ranger station.

But once you leave the ranger station, you would not be able to find water point anymore. So better to bring along water bottle.

On the way back will pass by the ranger station again...  Anyway this is a just in case scenario. Water bottle is advisable.

The view from the Treetop Walk is fantastic! The walk to the other end of the suspension bridge is a bit wobbly, legs a bit lembeh from the trekking there.

For your info, the highest point is 25m from the ground . . about 10 storeys?  [shocked]

Do it regularly and U will find Treetop much easier to walk, I had tried B T hill, it jus a walk in the park, Dairy Farm, refreshing and lots of green acres. Kent Ridge Park to watch Sunset and PSA harbour, SICC the best, 2 hours + for a complete therapy of your mind, body and soul. sure whet your appetite and new you. [flowerface]

Agreed, if you always trek, you will find the walk very easy de. Like when those people who hike regularly at bt timah hill, you see them dont feel shag or tired after the siong hiking inside the track.

There's a Jelutong Tower where you can explore next time. Popular with bird watchers.  After the tree top, you'll be on your way down Petaling trail, once you hit Sime Trail, turning left will bring you back to ranger station. Turn right for Jelutong tower.

Oh, we were in a hurry to leave so we skipped the Tower.

I remember if you come from macritchie side towards treetop, you must pass by the Jelutong Tower before reaching the ranger station, right?

For macritchie, depends if you go by clockise or anti-clockwise. The trail is a 11km loop. Go by clockwise, will pass by jelutong tower first, however part of the path (Golf link) is closed til 30th april. Therefore currently the only way is go anticlockwise.

What you have must have experiencing the trek was workers are putting on new road-track to the old path ( muddy when rain or over fallen trunk and topsy turvy path ), the current path was much easier & one do not get to meet wild boar and its family of young boars, tripping and hiding among bushes.

Today weather was unpredictable, half way mark it started to drizzle, my partner and i decide not to proceed toward TreeTop bridge, it's my intuition not to try as it was getting dark by 5pm, so we make an U turn back to Venus Dr. car park instead. Well I found the new track day to weak, but rather the steps are sandy coated against grip and its reflective and if one looks downcast, it may get headache.
