Man faces jail and fine for harbouring prostitutes!!

I did heard quite many doing this in flats last few years. It's a wave of making $$$ with HDBs. Hope the authority will go further to root out this. What other ways, we can help as good citizens?

The ladies prostitute themselves in hotels, they just live at this guy's place, right? Means prostitutes cannot even rent a place to live? I am confused.

I think many ppl do not know that prostitution in Singapore isn't against the law.....BUT... vice related activities are against the law. That is why this man kenna arrested.

I believe Geylang is the "controlled zone" whereby authorities can monitor the vice activities and they tolerate such activities provided the sex workers go for regular health screenings. So any of such activities fall outside Geylang the authorities will clamp it down and punish those who are involved. That is also why there are so many private properties in Geylang. The sex workers also need some place to stay.

So now you know it's not so much of what "harbouring" in hdb or whatever that this man did. It's just the authorities are finding ways to clamp down the vice related activities outside Geylang. This kinda thing happening in the heartlands of Singapore are obviously not allowed.

"The typical freelance streetwalker in Geylang is 26 years old, services four clients a day for $70 each on average, and earns about $3,200 a month after deducting rent and other expenses."

"Caucasians are typically asked to pay $81 because they are perceived to be more willing and able to pay. Chinese are charged $69, while Bangladeshis pay the lowest at $44, because they are seen as less wealthy."

I don't think it is because they are seen as wealthy but rather whether you want hawker centre, food court or restaurant?
