Recommendations needed: New Mobile phone

I'm going to buy a mobile phone.

 

It will be the first mobile I will have had in 25 years.

 

I'm interested in the Xiaomi Mi 4i or the Xiaomi Mi 5.

 

Anyone use these phones and can give an idea of how good they are.

 

I understand the Mi 4i is comparable to an iPhone 6 but only a quarter of the price.

 

Any comments.

Xiaomi is good. Oppo also good. I personally like the Moto X because of Moto Maker

But do check out stuff from Sony as well. They make good looking, well-built phones which are waterproof as well.
