Taxman knocks on bloggers' doors

I think about time that these people started paying taxes leh. Earn so much money as 'one-man show' then now say 'limited resources'. LOL maybe can use part of that 'one-man show' income to hire an agent to help?

The comment on who will hire them to do food tasting just sounds really lame. It's not the problem of the people who hire them. The tax liability lies with people who accept payment or accept the meal for free right?

Every year IRAS picks an industry to whack/scrutinize. Last time was curry puff and blogshop, now is bloggers.

Anyway quite funny right. Businessmen, employees and even landlords all have to pay taxes. But bloggers no need? Jin lame leh.

for the seller, sponsor items are tax deductible hence the recipient must declare for tax purpose.

nothing is tax free.

If you are just a casual blogger, really no need to worry.

Cost of PC, Internet line, electricity for your roomlights and pc and aircon (if you can allocate it, not the whole house bill of course), buy homeplug to use etc etc, will more than exceed any income from blogging. Think can probably even whack rental in there if claim home office.

If your blogging income exceeds all that. It is a side-trade and should be taxed.

Still remember couple of years back where one 'young' blogger tried to get free food for his friends also as he claimed that he was a blogger and wanted to write something for the restaurant.

The restaurant manager refused and he made a lot of noise posting his unhappiness on FB.

So if this kind of food blogger be taxed on the food they consumed free, do they need to pay the GST also ... :XD:
