Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Experience

SIA used to own a 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic but that has been sold away.  Still, when I flew to the USA recently, the route was to use Virgin Atlantic from Heathrow to Washington DC.  I flew in the Upper Class cabin, which is their version of Business class.  It was a very interesting experience indeed and I made many videos to share.  So here goes.

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London Heathrow Terminal 3 is legendary.  It did live up to its name, though pity one of the large screen TV sets was not working.

Part 1 - London Heathrow Club House and breakfast

Part 2 - Exploring the rest of the clubhouse and getting a drink.

Soon, it was time to make my way to the gates.

Now, I move on to the flight experience.  This was my first time on this airline in their premium cabin.  I had read a lot about it before this flight, so here goes.

Boarding.  On first look, the cabin felt very cramped!  Well, that has been well documented, but at least we all got aisle access and it does convert into a fully lie-flat bed.

Pushback and takeoff.

Time for lunch.  The catering was decent. The utensils have plenty of character.  Service was warm.

Now this is where I become a glutton.  I had two rounds of afternoon tea.  First was the English Tea service and then their gourmet burger!  Greedy I know.

Finally, some GO PRO footage of the cabin.  You can see the bar area too.

It was fun.

Now for the return leg, Washington Dulles IAD to London Heathrow LHR.

Some scenes from the Washington DC Dulles airport during check in.  After security, it was a driverless train to the Gates.

Once at the A Gates (where my flight would depart), I found the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and had a feast!  Virgin Atlantic operates awesome lounges.

While in the clubhouse, the Saudi Arabian airplane was pushing back.  So I took the opportunity to make this video.

This is the flight proper.

In part 1, I show you the boarding and take-off.

In part 2, I show you the meals on this 7+ hour flight.  Dinner would be served, followed by breakfast before landing.  The highlight was this Togarashi Japanese Salmon salad with cold soba noodles.  It was awesomely good.  Didn't expect this from Virgin Atlantic.
