Suzuki Baleno

Suzuki Baleno, slightly bigger than a Swift powered by their own 1.0 Booster Jet Engine (Suzuki's very own force induction engine).

A car with lots of potential to be as successful as the Swift. Available for sale in the UK from September 2016, hope it will be launched in the

local market soon after that. And of course COE price will drop to a more affordable price.

I think the full name is Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Made in India.

The one that PI being in seems to be Made in Japan.

If so, then those that like the Swift's driving dynamics but want something larger for family use may like this.

Owned a few Suzukis before - MIJ quality quite good.

Pricing seems competitive.

Don't think is made in japan.

This model is exclusively made by Maruti Suzuki in India & ship back to Japan.

Fully agreed that Suzuki Japan quality is gd, my bf's Suzuki van (PI imported) is already 9 years & still going very strong. [thumbsup]

This model is to be available in Europe and Asia. It also have a 1.0 BOOSTERJET direct-injection turbo engine, which has a maximum output of 82kW and a maximum torque of 170Nm.

By controlling the wastegate valve, which closes to create higher boost pressure during heavy-load operation and remains opened during normal driving, the BOOSTERJET reduces pumping loss, thus achieving high levels of both power performance and also fuel-efficiency.

I also can't confirm but what I found is that Suzuki Japan does sell Baleno in Japan itself

http://www.suzuki.co.jp/car/baleno/

I doubt very much that in Japan, they will import in an Indian-made Suzuki to sell there.

Also, PI probably more familiar with importing JDM models from his existing channels rather than try something new and also knowing that reason why people buy from PI is to get JDM models with assured factory quality but in exchange for taking the risk of PI warranty may not be that good (vs getting AD made in Thai or other places car).

Anyway, best way is to go take a look at the vehicle and see the user manual, labels in the car etc.  If JDM, then many of these things will be in Japanese.  Of course, can also ask for the import papers and make sure contract when sign, specify clearly purchase is for MIJ car.

Why not? Honda japan has already imported Honda city from Thailand & rebranded it as Fit Aria in japan.

PI may import it from Japan, but the car is made in India & shipped to Japan for their dealer to be sold in Japan market. This process they call it 逆輸入品.

If like that then looking at the Japanese labels etc no use already.

Have to see how the actual quality is then.

The Suzuki Baleno is a subcompact car produced by the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki since 2015. Prior to this, the "Baleno" nameplate had been applied to the Suzuki Cultus Crescent in numerous export markets.

The car was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, and was launched in India on October 24, 2015 and in Japan on March 9, 2016. It became available in Europe in April 2016.

It is manufactured exclusively in India, by Maruti Suzuki, as a five-door hatchback. It is built on a newly-developed platform, that features a powertrain range of three options (for the international model): a new 1.0 l Boosterjet 3-cylinder direct-injection turbo petrol engine, a four-cylinder 1.2 l Dualjet petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) and a normal 1.2 l Dualjet petrol engine. There are two engine options for the Indian model: a 1.2 l four cylinder K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3 l four cylinder DDIS 190 diesel engine. The 1.0 l Boosterjet is yet to arrive in India. It is expected to launch till Diwali in the Baleno RS variant.

It was tested by Euro NCAP in April 2016, receiving a four-star overall safety rating. It offers standard frontal and side head and chest airbags, as well as forward collision warning with auto braking.

Turbocharged
(edited)

1200cc

Don't think will be popular in sg

They should have brought in the 1.0 Boosterjet Turbo engine instead of the 1.2 Dualjet engine.

Boosterjet, 1.0, healthy 111PS and 160nm

Dualjet, 1.2, 91PS and 128nm sounds underpowered.

still waiting for the Next Swift Sport, imagine a 1.4 boosterjet turbo with 160ps and 250nm.

Anyone can enlighten me why the PI version of this car here in Singapore has a totally different head unit design as compared to the rest of the world? The one we have in SG looks 20 years back in time.. *The specs list state there is climate control... Anyone been down to test drive or currently driving one?
