I thought the first servicing for Mercs is 10k km?

And servicing fee is deducted against service credit unless yours is a PI unit.

Guys, just to check.. is it a advisible to skip 1k servicing for merc? Was given 3 free servicing so felt like using for 10k 20k and 30k instead of 1k 10k and 20k

Check the T&C with you PI in case you get faulted for missing it. But Merc cars don’t need to go in for service until 15k or a year later, whichever comes first.

It’s not a Jap, Korean or Thai car. So those ‘free service ‘ given are quite meaningless :)

There are many more cases of bmw engine oil sludging than and Japanese brands. Main reason is long service intervals without using approved oils. So in a way Japanese err on the side of caution with shorter intervals with looser specs on the oil used. Edited by Mkl22

Just crossed 3 years ownership less than 3 months ago and my alternator failed. Sent my car for check up just before warranty up and it was given all clear.

Replacement quoted 2.7k ...... would this item be covered by warranty if it was still within 3 years period? They claim it is not something the check up would have detected......

What’s the mileage if I could ask? 3.3 years is quite short. Mine died after 145k km. Replacement Bosch was just $330 for the part alone.

Volatge regualtors die due to heat or the brushes wearing out. So dumping the whole alternator is quite sayang.

Where did you get voltage regulator replaced? Edited by Davidtch

Where did you get voltage regulator replaced?

Alternator repair shops. There is one in ubi. Will bring my old alternator there for a quote. Let see how much. Given that a new one is only $330, I won’t bother if it’s going to be 100plus.

Cause the bearings might not last all the way also.

1k is not so much for servicing but more for inspection to check that there are no faults after leaving the factory. It is more for safety than for maintenance.

Might be a good review for you to trouble shoot, since there's no official C&C warranty.

A chance to sort out creaks, faulty parts, and also look out for any issues surfaced overseas. This model is too new here for anyone to give you meaningful feedback.

Good luck!

Any good Mercy specialist workshop to recommend to change engine mounting for E class? My steering wheel vibrates a fair bit when car is stationary. Should have asked C&C to replace when the car is still under warranty or is this a wear and tear item? 60k km, about time to up lorry.

I prefer owner's workshop with owner getting their hands dirty. Usually these are the people with loads of technical knowledge and experience in trouble shooting.

Pricing don't have to be the cheapest, just reasonable is fine.
