Cow hide very thick one de!  Sure try to hang around can collect a million or 2 a year as the job is so simple - just blame the lowest level of supervisors or blangah workers when things go wrong, but step right to the front at the first sign of any minute reliability improvements to claim credit.  Siang buay hiao?

A lot of companies actually have a lot of dead wood. So retrenchment is not necessarily a bad thing. I think most companies can cut down 10% - 20% of staff with no impact to performance whatsoever but choose to keep the people out of "good heart". Everyday you see people going for long lunch and tea break and coffee break in the CBD etc. As for SPH, the quality of the reporting is truly poor and is mostly seen as a government mouthpiece. There is nothing insightful from the commentary pieces and within OB markers. After being in business for so many years, its still ranked 154 (?) in the world. Retrenchment is a wake-up call for a company that is clearly going downhill unless it bucks up and come up with quality reporting and improves its journalism integrity.

Will never happen la. There's no independence in SPH. Govt is very open about it being a mouthpiece.

One last thing. As said in my earlier post this does not bode well for staff loyalty. What this means is that the good staff will start looking for jobs from now on, either to resign from SPH or as "standby". Either way this does not bode well for the company.

Digital transformation has disrupted jobs across many sectors. People are worried about their jobs and their relevance in an era of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Not only SPH staff, any staff in companies affected by digital disruption ought to be mindful enough to plan their next career while they still have leverage. The job search should have started long ago for those who can go….

To wither or thrive in the age of twitter? It is our own responsibility right?

fresh grads get a job can buy c180 and condo liao ... huat ah!

by age 30, salary no $20k no talk liao

that’s what we read on ST every Sat, no?

Silly channel 8 dramas from Mediacorp are equally as guilty as that mate.

Fresh grad portrayed as having their own room in office complete with a magnificent view of Gardens by the Bay.

ASP couple in the police force staying in a huge semi-detached house (that they bought NOT inherited) and each driving a Volvo SUV (obviously sponsoring brand of that serial.

And the list goes on……

This is so laughable isn't it?

Another show on nurses and the senior nurses staying in large landed property and driving large cars. And another drama about mediacorp artiste and again all the producers living in large bungalows.

Maybe the mediacorp artistes and producers are paid too well (using taxpayer's funds) and that's why they assume everyone else is living such luxurious lives.
