I thought it was quite silly for them to ditch Park and Ride scheme. I felt it could have expanded further to be honest if they were really serious about minimising traffic in the city.

 

Put more and bigger carparks in the fringe estates (Queenstown, Bukit Merah, etc) and then encourage people to Park and Ride there.

 

why dont we take the good school registration for kids within the 1 km zone one step further.

 

Tier tax for middle income bracket to have a tax break if they live with 10 km range and take BMW . Bus MRT Walk?

By the way $500 is not inclusive $8 ERP per day and petrol. So at least must prepare $1.2k on top of monthly installments. But majority here no installment right?

Don't really need to pity any generation. Every generation has its perks and hardship.

 

Our parents generation, even education is not a given and they have limited choices of what they can do. But landed houses cost just 100k or less then.

 

The next generation, the world is their oyster. Their parents (some of us) would have created a buffer so they actually have more choices of what they wish to do in life. Some of them may not even want to drive or be tied down by mortgages.

True la, those who work at cbd who drive and park there, either the parking fee is paid by company, or they are given transport allowance or their salary is very high. So even $500+ parking fee also small case. Lol.

Actually some companies just give taxi fare to their executives whom don't want to  drive option ; Some used ot use a kind of Comfort Cash Card and top it up , and  now many use Uber as there is an auto email generated . At least dont have the hassle of finding a parking lot and going round and round everytime to find a parking lot.

or just drink kopi from pantry (if they have) one which they do; most of the bigger ones;
