After a day or two, more details are out.

My analyze is just logistic issues being at the right place but at the wrong time.

I don't believe that China is behind this saga as there are many other ways for China to show her displeasure.

Nevertheless Singapore better take it as an early warning.

I believe many neighbour's tolerate Singapore largely because they give face to LKY. Like it or not truth is truth.

The world never stand still. Where is SIA in the aviation sphere? Many other airlines are offering better services at a lower price point.

George Yeo just resigned as Chancellor of an ancient university in India. Never learn from previous sour investment in China.

We better start eating the humble pie and pull up our socks.

This answers your question?

"All people and goods entering Hong Kong Special Administrative Region should follow the laws of the SAR. I'd like to reiterate that the Chinese government firmly opposes any of the countries that has diplomatic ties with us to have any form of official exchanges with Taiwan, including defence exchanges and cooperation," said Mr Geng in response to another related question.

buy tank is here or there? [laugh]

Ask @Mustank?

On a serious note I hope we take this as a warning that we are actually a small country.

I always have this belief. A lot of us have the "20 push up syndrome". So what is this 20 push up syndrome?

In army days everytime there is a mistake just do 20 push ups and all is resolved. Or maybe some confinement. And all is well. And we forget. That sometimes just doing 20 push ups will not solve issues and this is an example of one such issue. And now you see the leaders are stuck. Because they actually have to solve an issue instead of just asking someone to do 20 pushup and consider issue settled.

Now the only thing we can hope is that the team from mindef on the way to Hong Kong can resolve this or this can potentially become very ugly.

This is no longer just about training in Taiwan.

We had a honeymoon period where singapore really occupied a special place of trust with China. That period is now well and truly dead.

Now instead of riding the economic china dragon, we see the OROB directly poised to strangle singapore economically. The dragon is now eating up our space.

This explains the importance of TPP and why our PM keeps talking about it, and china really really hates it.

So it's making things even worse for us... while countries like Thailand malaysia Cambodia Myanmar etc are now surfing ahead of us on the china economic dragon.

Be afraid. .. be very afraid. There's a knife over our heads now.

Why did we go from the most trusted Asean member to the most hated? .. that's something we need to ask, but no one really do.

Just thinking... maybe this will eventually come one day even if we bow to them? Thats y the TPP serves to balance the power play in this region?

Seized SAF vehicles moved to cargo examination compound: HK media

SINGAPORE — The Hong Kong authorities have moved the seized Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) vehicles away from the port for storage, the territory’s media reported on Friday (Nov 25), raising questions about whether they will be returned expeditiously, as Singapore has requested.

Meanwhile, the incident widened on Friday, when China waded into the fray, saying it had noticed the news reports of the seized Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICVs) and was verifying them. However, a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman sidestepped questions from reporters at a routine press briefing about whether Singapore had contacted Beijing on the issue and what would happen to the nine armoured vehicles next.

Bow? Where?

THEY knew we trained in Taiwan and THEY keep quiet, even offering training space for us instead.

THEY sent their officials to us for training.

THEY chose here to meet with Taiwan.

THEY knew we hosted American military assets that choke hold their maritime life line.

THEY still offered us a way... till recently.

WE went to Washington and joked about prc pork soup on tap humiliating china in front of the world.

WE went to Tokyo to call for more Japanese role in SCS and lectured prc despite clear indications china would risk hot conflict.

WE loudly called for TPP which was specific in shutting out china.

WE were too brash and in their face giving them NO WAY. .not smart.

So no. . It was diplomatic screw ups that did singapore in. It's largely at least our fault. And we are largely blind to it ourselves.

BTW. . The below blog has some nice comments. We will take well to read the implications.

tpp is just some trade agremeent.

it exclude china , cos some of the term inside is more or less getting more profit from trade with china

to put it bluntly its more or less a group of trader gang up and demand better deal from the dealer.

(of course openly they dun put that way)

last time US is the dragon head. now they pull out.

as 1 of the co-founding country, from being a monkey king at the side, we are push to the front.

how would china feel if we are the 1 leading TPP against them?
