Leinad8919 Turbocharged January 19, 2017 Share January 19, 2017 My take on why more vehicles are caught going the wrong way, for those that do not do it intentionally. 1. Bad and inconsistent roads and traffic junctions design: Humans are creatures of habit. If a driver keeps driving where most roads allowed him to drive on the right side and make a right turn, he may repeat and finds himself driving against traffic on a road that doesn't allowed that. How many traffic junctions have you seen with red turn traffic light, but some don't have ? Is this to stress test the drivers ? Pay attention today, bcuz tomorrow red light may mean go ? Sometimes green light may mean stop ? Sometimes no light for turning means what ? Inconsistencies is the hallmark of LTA without using its brain. And that leads to accidents. 2. Drivers are more preoccupied with gadgets and humans in the car, mobile phone, games, gps, children, MIL, etc.: When they are engaged with them, they lose concentration and make a wrong move, due to the ever changing road condition. 3. More cameras on the roads: It may not necessary mean more driving against traffic, but just more exposure captured. In addition, maybe the white directional arrows were painted a distant from the junction & most are faded....so drivers made a wrong turn. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It actually happens pretty frequently over there. Cuz I think the merc wanted to go to the other carpark the taxi came from. Legal way is he got to turn left from the carpark he exited and go one big round and back to that carpark. To save petrol and time, just drive against traffic and turn into that carpark which got another exit to another road also. Many use it as a short cut so no need to go one big round to the main road. Happens so frequently that many of them treat it as normal already. My area here also got a few carparks where people drive against traffic to exit cuz it is shorter than going one big round. The OZ police is such a civilized bunch. For a similar case in the US, the culprit would have ended up with a few dozen bullets in him. No need charge, no need trial. I think have to prove intent. The Aussie guy very clearly was out to kill somebody (judging by his actions + before that he stabbed his brother).
