Anyone waiting for this? Seems like a nice.

But just saw it listed on sgcarmart, the stock pictures look totally different, like low end only. Some more only 1.6 GLS old engine.

The european designed i30 looks pretty nice with 1.0T and 1.4T options

This is the 3rd gen i30, just launched in Europe. What you saw on SGcarmart is still the current facelifted version of the 2nd-gen model, the pre-facelift 2nd-gen i30 was available locally back in 2012/2013 but was pulled off the market after only a few months in the market.

Yup, current one listed on sgcarmart is not the brand new i30 2017. The one on sgcarmart is being used as taxi by the silver colour company, forgot what is the company name...

Actually each generation's i30 was quite close to the Continental hatchbacks... but in Singapore it's always stripped down... due to pricing... we are not likely to get... the i30 is marketed as a premium hatch in Singapore... so it doesn't work out... they don't want it to cannibalize the Elantra sales...

And this is a Europe only model... I don't think Singaporeans in general like the suspension tuning which is firmer...

Maybe they should just ship the car in with super basic with steel wheel without the wheel covers.

Let the buyer pick and choose locally what they want for the car. I remember  the old school was to install aircon compressor locally.

Install leather locally

Install stereo locally.

With the way cars are now in the next generation phase of can bus and factory wiring harness, having this add on is real easy to improve the competitive game.

Of course, cutting out the G revenue on tax is always not a good thing...

You can't do that... cos all systems are integrated...

I like the idea. Maybe someday, buyer can customize their car over a computer screen. Manufacturer then assemble and ship them over. haha

By the way the platform for this car and the Elantra is slightly different... the i30 is shorter, with independent multi-link rear suspension whereas the Elantra has torsion beam at the rear...

Independent multi-link is so much more expensive

and performs much better. Torsion beam is just a

cost cutting solution.

Torsion beam is definitely cheaper and less sophisticated... but if you tune it properly, it can be pretty good too... The Ford Fiesta has a rear torsion beam, but it rides better than many cars with independent multi-link suspension...
