Sad news.

RIP Sir.

Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced.

He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me.

Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".

The statement, from his children, read: "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."

"With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated," they said in a Twitter post.

Sir Roger, who died in Switzerland, will have a private funeral in Monaco in accordance with his wishes, they added.

"The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone," read the statement from Debora, Geoffrey and Christian.

"Our thoughts must now turn to supporting Kristina [his wife] at this difficult time."

I am a 007 fan and have watched every Bond movies countless times, except for that Lazenby guy in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Worst 007 actor ever. [thumbsdown]

Yeah. Lazenby was not suitable for the role. Though I did like the story and Diana Rigg.

My favourite Roger Moore Bond movie was The Spy Who Loved Me.

RIP.

He is one of my idol during childhood time, love to see 007 movies especially listening to the exciting music in his actions.

He's a heavy smoker. According to Jay Leno. I watch the JL garage on youtube whereby someone bought his white Volvo and restored it. Old age and cancer....not exactly the ideal aging imo.

RIP nontheless.

Together with sean connery, roger moore was the 007 i first saw, and they created the lasting impression of the character.

After that didn't follow that much, so ask me who are the actors or 007, and they are the only two i can name...

RIP.

Supersonic

You are always 007 to me.

RIP. Good to learn that you championed causes for children and active in works of charity. Loved ones at death bed. It's more than what 007 can wish for considering his "wandering ways".
