i am confused on the rules.

Some pundits argued that whether lovren touched the ball was irrelevant as kane was offset.

But rule book says that Kane is not off side as it was lovren that put him on with his misskick.

Any suggestion?

Adam Lallana was sent off while playing for Liverpool's under-23s on Monday, but he will not be in line for a first-team suspension, a Premier League source told ESPN FC.

Lallana and Tottenham captain George Marsh, 19, collided while contesting for a ball in the air, and the Liverpool man took exception to the challenge.

The 29-year-old got to his feet and jumped his opponent from behind, putting his right hand around Marsh's neck while pushing the teenager's head down with his left.

He was led away by teammate Danny Ings after being shown a straight red card by the referee and headed down the tunnel in the 63rd minute of Liverpool's 1-0 defeat at the home of Stevenage FC.

Yaya. Yawn. Only pool players r god.

The rules states that if the player ( Lovren ) made a deliberate attempt to play the ball and touches it , then its considered as a new play and hence Kane is not considered as offside .

The key word here is “ deliberately “ , if he was not facing the ball , as in The ball was behind him and the ball hit him , then Kane will be considered as offside .

Actually there are too many loop holes in FA's rules and regulations. Referees have total control of a match's outcome and they do not get penalized for mistakes made. It'll be worst with VAR being introduced in the near future. I for one am not for it, too many delays in a game and it factors out even the slightest of offsides. Not cool.

the rules are so poorly written, its subject to weird interpretations, such as this one.

an offside player is onside because a defender played the ball "deliberately".

So in this situation, the defender is better off not playing the ball. Yet he plays it precisely because of the attacker's presence, bearing in mind the pass was played towards the attacker, AND the attacker moved towards it. It's twisted to think that a player is suddenly not offside, in this situation.

The ref has also interpreted that the defender has deliberately played it that particular way, even though there is no real deviation in the path of the ball. This is as good as saying a defender who rises to head the ball, but it skims off his head because he's too short, has now deliberately played the striker onside.

Finally, https://www.instagram.com/p/Be0YlecAB3P/

You could argue, Lamela fouls VVD. jumping into him, without any intention to play the ball.

Seems the standard of refereeing in EPL this season is getting worse. After Sunday’s Pool v Spurs penalty debate, last night Mike Dean sent off Bakayoko for soft fouls which even ex ref Poll says it’s wrong.

read somewhere Dean is spurs fan? :P

ya, bakayoko send off was very lame.

but he was playing super bad before his sending off.

not only him, whole chelsea is playing bad.

i doubt even if 11 v 11 chelsea can get any points.

It's very simple.

You can only be off side if your team mate plays the ball to you.

If the opposition player plays the ball to you then you are always on side.
