the news always likes to focus and emphasize on certain particular things... as @kusje mentioned, maybe the intention is to emphasize his mechanical engineering background.

what do you think? [sly]

this one KBW replied as follows:

“There are easier ways to make money,” Mr Khaw responded.

The government’s decision to corporatise SMRT but have it fully owned by the government is “not wrong”, added Mr Khaw. He said the intention behind it is to exploit the financial discipline of a commercial sector.

"Making money is not your objective, but you must not lose money."

hahha later they shoot to the Chairman again ....... just came in Aug and kana so many arrows.

:D

This Chairman parachute in one, so should be boh dai ji. If there is a change in CEO he will be credited for leadership, guidance and steering SMRT thru a difficult transitional period and instrumental in the turnaround ... etc etc ...

But gosh, really funny to see the chaps sitting in like a glass cage and not being able to say anything.

Last time someone was invited to Parliament was Schooling ... this one so different.

Not a good answer from KBW.

MRT is a public service. Same as hospital and school and etc. Their first and foremost priority is to provide the service properly and efficiently. If it sometimes have to make a loss to do so, then it has to make a loss.

We don't really have much of a choice when it comes to MRT. It's not like when MRT breakdown we have another option or alternative to take that is exactly the same (far from it). So they need to get their priorities straight.

I just looked through briefly.

Overall, there's still profits and healthy cashflow.

They have a school principal sitting in the bod. Wonder what's her contribution to the board discussions? Whether in peace time or now in a state of faecal matter.

Don't be tricked by the p/l in the reports la.

Any so called losses are because they claim they have to buy the land from ura at a high price. Just a transfer from one govt entity to another.

Ask them to show ura p/l.
