From a very personal experience ...

please make sure that the old folks are well versed in CPR ...

As they are in pairs... any emergency... they will be each other's best help... those precious few minutes cam save a life.

Come to think of it, as most here view retirement and old age as a problem, not knowing cpr could be a blessing. :(

I hope to die on the day I retired, or retired on the day I die.  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Retired many a times is being labelled as "old and useless" , I may be old, certainly dont want to be useless.  ^_^

if u really suddenly passed on, on the day u decided to retire... how u think your family will react?

You can plan to do this and that.

But most important, make sure you plan to be fit and healthy until the day you die.

this is very true. what is the point of living to 100 if the last phase is on the bed. but in health, it is very unpredictable. be happy and max your time while hou could. dont let sma things block you from the big picture.

Well there's a lot of things can do after retirement, I will return to society and try to do some social work. As a semi-retiree now, I help my wife looking after our grandchildren but most of the time I plays and to spoil them; this is what grandpa should do :) On free time, I read and surf internet and hitting some balls at the driving range once a week. Spending time with my wife and children every weekend. Also drinking beers and wine with my buddies occasionally.

I am going to follow you. But no kids nor grandchildren to look after. So going to look after my cars....

I dying at age 68, and we are all prepared. I will try to hand over as early as possible and let go fully at 65. Last 3 yrs I going to be a monk. So I die as a monk, technically I retired as a monk on the day I die [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Meanwhile, I do whatever I like now, don't have to wait till some retirement.

I have met people who are retired and travelling the world in their late 50s or early 60s, they told me they should have retired earlier. I figure if got money, don't need to worry about being old and useless but I still scare to retire one day, maybe we are conditioned to work till we die.

I agree that got money there is no worry, and I believe nobody will object to that sentence, but how much is consider "got money"?

Maybe is who you see and what kind of ppl we deal with. I don't travel a lot for leisure, most times I travel for work and areas I go to are usually commercial estates, so maybe I don't meet those ppl.

However, I deal with and know many ppl who are still working passed 65, and many have no sign of going into retirement any time soon. In fact many of my business associates die old (alot of heart attacks) without retirement.

Again, maybe because these are business owners and higher management ppl, so I won't take that as a comparison to the general mass. But if we love doing something and look forward to going to work each day, I think retirement is quite sad because we lost almost everything in exchange for some years of "free time".

Of course, from what we hear everyday, most ppl dont like to go to work each day, thus looking forward to retirement becomes a motivation for them. Personally I don't think of retirement, in fact even without the so call "condition to work till die" thingy, I would work till I die, because I love what I am doing, and I hope my children will love it as well. Seriously I have never though of retirement and what I going to do. [laugh][laugh][laugh]
