Reclaim cost of flight from Air Asia

We cannot make a flight on Air Asia next week for family reasons.

Anyone know how to reclaim the cost of the flight??

 

My missus tried for a couple of hours yesterday but got nowhere.

T&C probably clearly stated no cancellation unless u paid the premium for cancellation. At best, can only choose to travel on a later date bah.

Go to a friendly GP get MC for all traveling, then call airlines, all sick with infectious disease, airline will re-schedule your flight or reimburse you.  However, the problem is how to find a friend GP.

 

The last time, my flight the arm-rest broke (not my fault), they had to tape it for the whole flight. The airline gave me 40000 points as good will. Didn't not expect it and neither did i made noise about it. Must be stewardess who put in word for me. Nice touch.

a couple years back when my wife and 1 yr old was in hainan, there was a typhoon which hit the island quite hard a day before they were booked to come back to SG.

 

I called J**S*** and asked them if I could change their flight back to SG due to the bad weather ... but after a long "discussion", it was concluded that it was a waste of time and energy.

 

in conclusion, forfeit the current tixs and buy new one when you need to.

 

btw, pls note that the package that includes change of date and flight is how siao one also. you will be better off buying a new tix.

I think most probably can't claim especially on budget air.

 

Perhaps you wana try claiming from your travel insurance (if your reason is really emergency and falls under their acceptable reasons).

Cannot just suka suka change name hor...... They will charge you new ticket... But I think you should be able to get refund on the Airport charges, security fees (charged by govt here )  since they (Carrier) pay only when pax  start journey only   as I remember I did it with one of my tickets to USA , but took a few months ; In fact the Airfare was like 1/2 of the statutory charges

My guess is your prob can't get it back. Even full cost carriers want to get full refund is difficult. 


My own experience with Jetstar was i had a flight cancelled the day i was to fly, their only recourse was to give voucher for next booking, i saw the email early and quickly made a call to their hotline and got myself on the next available flight (which although required a longer transit, still allowed me to go on my vacation)

Another experience was with Scoot, supposed to fly to BKK, but then BKK had riots and a travel advisory was issued. Scoot allowed us to either reschedule for free.

Yet another was SIA, same thing, supposed to go BKK, but more political unrest, travel advisory issued. They let us either refund, reschedule for free or just topped up a bit travel elsewhere. We chose the latter. 

Best to just call them and be nice. Don't be HDLY. But from what i read, AirAsia is the lowest grade of low-cost carriers and usually is GG experience.

i think even full service but at promo price also cannot change in this case. One week usually dun get back anything. I ever book 6 SQ ticket to oz canceled 2 months before already kena 25% of the price.

Answer

The booking of a seat is confirmed after full payment of the fare is made and after we issue you a booking number and/or the Itinerary.  

However, you can get a refund on Airport Tax. In the situation where you did not board the flight, you may request for a refund on the Airport Tax paid, within six (6) months after the scheduled date of flight departure. You have the option of an AirAsia Credit Account or back to the original mode of payment.

Should you prefer the AirAsia Credit Account, the full amount of the airport taxes paid will be refunded. On the contrary, refund back to the Original Payment Mode is subject to a refund fee (per guest per sector) as stated in our Fees and Charges. Other services purchased together with the flight would not be refunded.

Other considerations:

• Approved refund requests for domestic flight within Malaysia and Indonesia will be refunded in the form of Credit Account only.                  
• Refund is not applicable for flights departing from Myanmar.
• All refund requests must meet the following criteria:

o   Must be submitted within six (6) months after your flight(s) have departed.
o   One (1) or more guests did not board the flight(s).
o   Refund fee will be exempted for:

• All AirAsia Philippines (Z2), AirAsia Thailand (FD), AirAsia X Thailand (XJ) & AirAsia India (I5) flights.
• All flights departing from Thailand.
• All flights departing from Hong Kong. 

Note: Guests who did not board their flight departing from Manila, Philippines can request for an International Passenger Service Charge refund, within one (1) year from the booking date. Refund fee will be exempted.

I think there's nothing wrong with what JS did.

I dunno how to describe lah ... if just a heavy downpour is ok ...

 

but I think a hurricane should be the word ... a lot of structures were damaged ... signboards and zinc roofs were all bent and balled up by the winds ... and no one can predict the weather also ... who would have know if it lasted 2 or 3 days ??

 

I was just plain worried and concerned ... so wanted to postpone the flight for them.

 

I don't mind if have to pay a bit more but the way they made it is you are really better off buying a next tix ! they could have done better.

Yeah today my missus found out about reclaim of taxes only but she can't find out how much taxes we would pay.

 

We've got Travel Insurance because we could see the possibility we'd have to cancel, but I'm sure that's gonna be a long grind.

The two hotels involved were very good and no problem.

 

Just as a side note, we used to fly BC return to UK with Vietnam Air because of the great deals they were doing and one year when in UK we found an even better deal First Class with Swiss.  We asked Vietnam Air if we could cancel the return leg and get a refund which they agreed to with no problem and they refunded half price of both our tickets.  They were so good we nearly decided to not ask for refund.  And we weren't on any special refundable ticket.
