Where do you think COE is heading?

Reasons for COE to come down:

- Grab, Uber has stopped expanding.

- Comfort and Uber tie up may get rid of surplus cars

- taxi companies have many taxi that no driver is renting

- 2008; 2009 huge batch of cars are due for scrap.

- people switching to uber/grab, and new MRT lines.

- 1 rocket from N Korea to US will bring down COE, but increase Oil & Gold price.

- And where have the buyers gone? A motor show and CNY did not push COE up, surprising.

Reasons for COE to go up:

- zero car growth starts in Feb

- more stringent VES in Jun 2018 making cars more expensive

- global and local economic growth forecasted for 2018

- strong stock market. COE & stock market are correlated if u hv not realised.

- Trump is pro business, bode well for global economy.

- Enbloc fever is turning Thousands of households into millionaires. Once these households get the $, a portion of them will upgrade/buy etc.

Where do u think car prices are heading ?

Isn't it obvious? Just look at last year.

2 times the news media report record number of car owners extending coe.

Once in Feb another in July 2017

http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/coes-extended-for-record-number-of-vehicles

http://www.tnp.sg/news/singapore/record-number-car-owners-extending-coes

Ask these car owners lo. Maybe they saw something coming. To them no need to ask further. Or maybe it's too obvious for them?

I hear rumours....not confirmed.

Due to VES, most dealers did not bring in the FULL quantities of cars stock in their warehouse.

Fear that they may get stuck with cars that cannot sell due to $20k VES like the entire Suzuki range of cars. (Suzuki might be panicking now, or not?)

So the urge to bid COE for customers are not strong this week.

But now that VES is more or less determined.

AD will be shipping in the cars to satisfy Rich singaporeans car buyers.

Plus the timely news on the COE quota reduction yesterday.

This weekends there will be a surged of car buyers begging AD to take their money!

So the hope for post-CNY cheap COE will not happen this year.

Attrage at $67,999. Better grab it before it sold out.

GST is on OMV.

As such a $15k OMV only pays $300 more for a 2% GST increase so I don't think there will be any panic on GST increase.

Carlite policy, on one hand, need more people to take MRT to cover new lines cost, on the other, need more revenues from car ownership.

Noticed that they're building huge mscp for new BTO, cannot be carlite policy leh.

I bet the weekend cars policy will be tweaked to gain more car ownership, pay as you drive?
