Cephas 3rd Gear February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 Nowadays, many small L cars, for example 1.0L, are boosted with turbo. Will it cause the engine to wear and tear faster and lead to premature bteakdown?
inlinesix Supersonic February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 the petrol head purist says no 6 cyclinder no talk smelly smelly must be 3L hor but F1 cars only run on 1.6L ... muahahaha Ya lor. No IL6 NO TALK. Flat6 would be better. Not enough. Too many 2L turbos on the road. How to get ahead of the pack? 1.6L Turbo 184hp 1.2 ton Can get ahead or not? Stratovarius Turbocharged February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 yup. on paper i have 241bhp and 350nm of torque. Century sprint in 7s. in a real world scenario, i've lost to a Toyota Prius (and many other less powerful cars) off the lights from 0 to 30km/h. especially irritating are those 1.4L VWs with DSGs. no fking way can i catch them! I did once against an X6 on my swift sport on a straight and clear road from a traffic light. Pulling away initially reving to 6k rpm but smell smoke shortly after. Cheap thrills. lol. flashbang Turbocharged February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 Not enough. Too many 2L turbos on the road. How to get ahead of the pack?By being willing to WOT, which many drivers dare not do. Nothing wrong as long as engine is warmed up after 5-10mins of driving.
Ake109 6th Gear February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 By being willing to WOT, which many drivers dare not do. Nothing wrong as long as engine is warmed up after 5-10mins of driving. Its not enough to just get ahead. You want to get ahead without breaking 3k rpm. Just part throttle. WOT is saved for those moments when the other guy wants to WOT get ahead of you. 3L turbo can liao. 350hp and 450nm. more than good enough. Not enough. Still need to tune for that extra last 100hp. :) Ya lor. No IL6 NO TALK. Flat6 would be better. 1.6L Turbo 184hp 1.2 ton Can get ahead or not? Depend who you meet lor.... 98% of the time should be ok.
LPPL 6th Gear February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 Aiya, just look at the badge. The vw badge is more atas than the Honda badge. Volvo and Mercedes also very atas, so atas that they even have public buses that come from these 2 brands.
Lotr8445r 5th Gear February 20, 2018 Share February 20, 2018 Actually any current 2L turbo will suffice. No need for 4L la The problem is your enough does not meant to other is enough? Just like others feel that 2L is enough but you prefer 2L turbo then enough :)

Mine also similar, 420nm but pedal to metal from stop initially feels a bit lethargic at the first second. Might be gearbox lazy response. U switch to manual it may help a bit? Might be gearbox lazy response. U switch to manual it may help a bit? i read around, it's a "feature" for toyota turbo engines. the first second always lags, they deliberately do that. even with throttle controller, it doesn't help. same goes for manual override too.

But the delay isn't as evident when I wot from 80kmh.I guess the engine only switch to Atkinson cycle during idling and very low load condition. At 80 km/h it is already running in normal Otto cycle

At 80 km/h it is already running in normal Otto cycle A modern 2L should be on really low load cruising at 80. I think at a constant 80, it should still be on the Atkinson cycle. A stationary, I believe it is just the torque convertor causing most of the lag (plus a bit of turbo spooling up). I had similar issue with previous Legacy GT (tuned). Its fast once its going but from a standstill, the 1st second is super turtle. ↡ Advertisement
