Hi all

Would like to check on something. While i understand that if the coe is not obtained, there would be a delay in getting the car.

However, if the downpayment has been made and that the COE has been obtained, why does the AD now tell me that they have no stock on hand to deliver based on the agreed timeline of delivery?

Wondering if anyone has experienced this and to what effect can this be resolved?

thanks!!

Happy problem.

Was in a similar situation once. Delivery was late and my car was scrapped already. AD gave me a loan car for 2 weeks b4 they registered my new car.

If u still hv a car to drive, kpkb n they might give u some compensation or service credits. Good luck

It's common for AD / PI to secure the COE when the COE price is low and the stock for your car hasn't arrive in Singapore yet.

Sorry, the AD tell you that have no stock to deliver your car on the agreed date that's stated on the Sales Agreement? If in that case, can make noise to the management to press them to deliver the car on the agreed date or compensate you for the delay. What's the reason they give for the delay? Also, normally AD will not ask for the downpayment in full (not deposit) if the car is not ready for you to collect.

Normally, the AD will have spare stock in local warehouse or in the coming shipment to cater for those who need car urgently and buy at the last minutes (I did that b4 with Nissan AD more than 12 years ago). Unless the car you're buying is a new model and yours supposed to be the first batch of shipment to Singapore than it's a different story. If the car is from PI, it's also a different story as I encountered almost 6 weeks delay from the promised date of delivery though the COE was secured immediately after I pay the deposit.

Nobody seems to be answering your question on WHY dealer not delivering.

This is industry insider dirty trick that your dealer will not tell you. This was not told to you at first right!  There was no clue nor any hint that stock has not arrived when you were signing right!  They have the stock when you were buying.  Then came along a buyer who insist on a similar colour as you chose, and/or same interior spec as yours.  That buyer told dealer if you can deliver by XX date for that colour and/or that interior spec, then I buy.  To close deal, dealer assigned your your car to that buyer, and tell you fairy tale.

This is industry insider dirty trick.  Enjoy the fairy tale while you await your car !!

When your COE is secured, You should be happy. When is the delivery will depend on some factors. Once of them could be delay of shipment... Well, you have your Sale agreement as a guide, Make full use of it to your advantage when there is a delay, which is not likely if you are dealing with AD... I cannot say about PI cos the first thing I tell others about PI is never buy thru indent... Your waiting time will be longer than a Giraffe's neck...

Maybe they give priority to those who pay higher price for guarantee Coe? They die die most fulfil their agreement to them

Actually go bust better coz COE bidded and secured in the buyer’s name oredi. But booking deposit paid to AD or PI is less than the COE itself...

better, sure bo?
dealer also bidded the coe with the min $10k deposit nia ... you think they paid $39k to bid
if dealer go bust ... you probably need to complete the transaction via another dealer or forego $10k
sure inccur more cost as another dealer did not factor in their margin in the coe bidding
at the end ... the loser is ALWAYS the consumer ....

You’re probably right. But makes me wonder as i recalled someone in the CHR thread who said his PI got him the COE then couldn’t deliver n he took his COE to another PI n happy like toad after that

Can't really say it's a happy problem. Mine first car with the AD. Think I'll have to complain to the management on this. See what compensation they can give and if any loan car in the interim. Thanks for the help!!

Thanks again. This is from my AD. So I am surprise that even AD will have this tactic. What can I do other than to seek compensation. The SE could reply me on this delay. Typical avoiding tactic. Pissed off. Wondering if I shld let CASE know on this

Looking at my agreement the SE left the date of delivery empty. I gathered they already did have the stock before selling me the car. All the more highlighting this particular AD under hand tactics. I'm going to write in to their managemen
Thanks all for the prompt replies. Didn't expect so many helpful people here:grin:

I hope the management would even get back to me

Actually the maximum holding time to hold the COE before registering the car is about 6 months.

I experienced this before with AD but it is a new model which was not released in the market yet.

But I think you should go to the management to ask for an acceptable explanation and a promised delivery date within the 6 months period.

Agree...Not only cars alone. Even other expenditure items are involved. Now the tactic is get the order first and talk later.

It is also costly to hold on stock and inventory now as cost is high. There will be problem in the long run...

Go & see sales manager to work out amicable solution.

yup ... go CASE waste time waste air and puke blood
just go kaypoh and bang table and see can get some freebies like free servicing, etc
fight with dealer head on is futile ... just look at the sales agreement ... there is definitely fine prints to protect the dealer
buyers cant win one la ... if win ... must also lose 1 arm 1 leg ... not worth it

Going to CASE wastes a lot of time.

By the time CASE is able to react, the 6 month window period to hold the COE without car is already over.

I urge TS to go to the management directly to settle it. I'm sure they do not want to lose a customer and leave a bad reputation behind.

It is always important on our part as Buyers, to ask at Point of Sale if the stocks and choice of color is available now.

Then only you will know whether you are expecting to wait or not (with or without COE) before you signed the Sales Agreement.

This is always my Number 1 question to ask when I am deciding on my color choice.
