Another expensive hotel.

when i stayed there, somehow the wife found a promotional rate of less than S$200 per night. that was 5 years ago though. but it's really convenient. and large room size.

Hi all. I am so so so sorry for the lack of updates here. I know it's been awhile. Let's see if I am able to carry on with this travel thread. Gotta do a bit of memory digging. This will be a continuation of my day 2 at Tokyo -  Shinjuku (earlier post), Ueno's Ameyoko and now the real part of why I traveled to Ueno. If you're a non-rider you're gonna be a bit bored.

As most of you already know, I am a rider and how can a holiday be complete without a trip(s) to the local bike shop for some accessory shopping and look see look see, furthermore so in a country like Japan where most of the top of the range bikes come from.

From all that I read online before my trip and also from my research many years back, Ueno used to be a bustling little district for all your biking gears aka a motorcyclist's paradise but in recent years shops have closed and that once paradise for motorcycle enthusiasts is no longer the same. So I went there with a much lowered expectation, and rightfully so.

Here's Rabee for you. If I remember correctly there's two Rabee at Ueno. One is a smaller outlet. I went both. It's not that simple to find this whole Ueno bike scene area anyway, it doesn't stand out and the shops are a bit scattered.

Bought a new pair of riding gloves for myself. 8900 Yen as stated but I think I only paid 8600 Yen. Quality is superb. Never heard of this brand but I love it. It's not overly stiff like those from Alpinestars.

They're to replace my current RS Taichi mesh ones from Motoworld which I've been using since many years ago.

And then UPC selling Arai helmets, and you have the smaller Rabee beside. That's about it for bike stuff at Ueno. I could have missed out other shops but didn't have much time on my side anyway, and from what I've gathered from the shop owners there, there's only these few shops left.

Definitely not as busy with bike stuff as 15 yrs ago but even during my last trip to Ueno late 2016, one can still find many small local accesories shops selling apparel and helmets and riding gear and parts.

Also several bike dealerships too.

Ueno is definitely one of my fave places in Tokyo

Got bikes

Got shrines

Got sports wear and shoes

Got local produce

Got guns

And

Got vintage Rolex and Tudor!!!

Must slowly walk, can spend almost a whole day there.

Thanks for the tips!! Super excited about going to Tokyo!! Does anyone know of any good places where I can get a massage while in Tokyo?

I've read about a place called Hogushi No Tatsujin : https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1066854-d10293790-Reviews-Hogushi_no_Tatsujin_Gotanda-Shinagawa_Tokyo_Tokyo_Prefecture_Kanto.html

Also a little tip for you guys who are planning to visit Japan. If you're looking for a sim card rental i would recommend Genki Mobile! My cousin was recently in Tokyo and rented from Genki Mobile and she highly recommended it! I'll be trying their service when I go to Japan too so i'll update you all on their sim card once I come back!

https://www.genkimobile.com

Funnily you can try Genki massage or me I prefer Kinky massage.

Google for location.

:D
