Hi guys,

First time trying to rent a car in Bangkok

Anything to look out for and which are the more reliable rental agents

What is the total deposit required and additional charges? E.g. how much is their insurance with 0 excess

And I read just produce our Singapore driving licence will do

I check for 5 days 4 nights at Hertz is less than sgd $200 for yaris equivalent .

Likely moving only around bangkok, yes I know mrt is easier but intend to try out driving a car in bangkok

Get ready to be stuck in traffic.

Never had any experience renting in Bangkok.

Just remember to take photos of the car at all angle before upon collecting.

pls dont

just take the BTS

unless u wan to drive out of BKK to outskirts

otherwise pls dont

True, if you rent car just to drive in Bangkok not very advisable la. Take public transport or walk even better. Unless you plan to rent car to drive out of Bangkok then ok.

I rent from Hertz, pick up car at BKK airport.

But I drive direct to Hua Hin.

After Hua Hin trip, return car to Hertz at BKK Downtown directly.

So I had short drive in BKK city, felt the driver there quite patient. In the jammed give signal and they way for lane changing.

Beside the rental fee, how much you pay for insurance ? Was it with no excess for accident?

Sg driving licence will do right?

I read that but I saw a deposit of 30k and 10k separately..

Maybe if buy the scdw, then no need 30k deposit?

I bookk through SQ website. All excess paid during booking.

I will be renting a car in BKK this coming thursday. I booked online thru Economy Bookings. Opted for full insurance coverage as I will be driving from Airport to Hua Hin and then to BKK downtown and back to rental company at BKK downtown. It is an online agent, the actual rental company is Thai Rent-A-Car. Pretty big company from what I google from. I tried renting directly from them but prices are more expensive.

I will be renting a Toyota Altis, total charges for two days of rental with full insurance coverage is S$147.20.

After my trip, I give you FR. [:p]

I am also renting a Altis, but I paid for around $125 include all insurance.

Wow, u got it for so cheap. U rented for 5 days right?

I search Hertz and it was expensive also for 2 days of rental for an Altis. So I settled for the cheapest I googled.
