No prob at all. Most new cars in other big countries are run-in via long distance too!

Dun rev hard and keep within the rpm range u would be just fine.

Should'nt be a problem as I used my new Opel Zafira on a road trip to Malacca organised by the Opel Forum chaps many years ago. The convoy was well regulated in speed and the Zafi was used till scrap with normal wear and tear issues. Just go and enjoy the trip.

Should be fine as long as you keep revs not too high.

Another thing is, do not keep the same rev for too long. e.g. don't cruise for long time at same rev. Vary it a bit.

Not knowing your brand and model. But from all previous replies it shows that it shouldn’t be a problem.

I myself drove my brand new attrage to Melaka within less than a month of collection. Just nice can go for 1K servicing after returning.

Long trip is the best break in

but must vary the rev range.

So sometimes drive at 110

sometimes drive at 80 on the left

and sometimes drive at 150.  [thumbsup]

All new cars before the engine is put into the car, already ran for hours to prove its ok before dropping into the car.

Breaking in is just a myth...

If really is breaking in, for those who have built engines before will know, the first 5000km cannot over rev and once the first drain after the build will have "metal debris" i dont think cars new fro agent has "metal debris" after the so called break in

As long as u vary the rpm, dont hit certain rpm as according to your car manual.

And dont use cruise control as it fixed at the rpm

Neutral Newbie

I did jus that with my new Wish. Collect then next day go Melaka. Drove at highway between 80 and 100kmh. Did not rev above 2. So son was laughing as all the small Kancil and Perodua cut our car but no choice. Drove mostly on left lane with occasional overtaking of slower lorries. Reached Melaka in 3 hrs instead of usual 1 1/2 hrs but I really enjoyed it..new car ma :) Mileage was good as got 13+km/l. So enjoy your trip and car :)
