Dear mycarforum reader,

Recently I heard from one of my friend that the car he is driving for less than a year has faulty pair of absorbers. This car is from a high end dealer and is very popular in Singapore. He contacted the dealer and was told that the pair of absorbers will be replaced only free of charge as it is on warranty. What would you do if you are the owner of this car? Welcome feedback. cheers.

what do you want and can do? sue? for what? and sure to lose as there is a warranty in place and the parts and changed.  that's why there is a warrant in the first place to guard against defects.

I think you better ask your friend to build his own car la.your friend's $1, bigger than a Singapore flyer wheel!

To answer the TS's question in all honesty:

I will send my car to the AD's workshop and have it replaced under warranty.

Drink their cappucino  and breakfast croissants

Read the newspaper

Watch free CNN

Use the free wifi
Use the free toilet

Molest the top end models on display

Enjoy the aircon

Collect my car and go home.

Did I leave out any other things to do?

:D

Interesting story as the same thing happened to me 5 years ago.

I bought the car and my Father was driving it. I have never owned that particular marque before so not sure how the ride is. However, whenever I rode in the car and whenever the car went over a hump there was a squeaking sound. I thought it odd but then the car had gone in for the initial few car checks and oil replacements.

One day, I could not stand it anymore ... this was about 6 months after the car delivery and I insisted on having it checked at the AD. The car mechanic told me, Dad, that both the shock absorbers were faulty!

I could not believe it! Although it was a basic entry run of the mill model, the mechanic told me that they did not have spare parts until 2 weeks later!

Firstly the car had undergone a few checks but was not picked up. Secondly, a common run of the mill model with both faulty shock absorbers cannot be replaced until 2 weeks later!

I demanded they fix the shock absorbers immediately and threatened to post the story on  ... mycarforum and was going to complain to their management etc.

Guess what ... fixed on the spot without much hassle!

I have decided that the badge is just a badge and does not guarantee quality!

That's cuz another guy before you also asked for the shock abs to be replaced IMMEDIATELY. So they took the new ones from your car and gave you his old ones.

Complain.

Insist he is not happy it's FOC and want to pay.

Say it's the principle and not the money.

Show them the I break I pay attitude.

Stun them like veg until they don't know how to react.

Be original.

So what's the issue? The dealer admitted the mistake and offered to change the shock aborbers for free since the car is still under warranty.

Is it the waiting time issue. Or they gave the wrong parts?
