Looking at Budget 2018, it had already been decided how much they want to collect for Motor vehicle tax and Vehicle quota premiums.

Unlikely, it will drop a lot. if it does, 10 years loan will be back.

Vehicles Taxes - 2.81 billion

Vehicles Quota Premiums - 5.59 billion

Unless they issue more COEs again.

Unless they issue more COEs again.

They cannot issue more COEs, as the zero growth policy has been decided.  They will put on their thinking hat to see how to stimulate demand for cars.

It's not fixed.

They can review it and decide on the growth again.

That was a hasty decision that gone wrong for Singaporeans.

If COE drops becos of the VES surcharges, it might lead to more old bangers being renewed their COEs, leading to a drop in both Vehicles Taxes and Quota premiums being collected.

The GST really has to go up to 9 or 10 percent if they don't cut their overspending.

I think u shld hold if ur current car coe not expiring soon. Even if coe goes up nxt round, the tread this yr shld b going dwn. My friend gt offer by Opel 20+k bellow sgcm list price. I think dealers are desperate to hit the numbers.

It's supposedly so.

Opel Astra costs about 120k or about 48/50+% margin which is crazy.

Who on earth would buy one at 120k?!

I wouldn't.

Actually selling price for last month is about 89/92k,which is only like 10+% profit.

So the price reduction is not because they are desperate,it's that it's a usual practice of theirs.

Coe Prediction (I'm not OT)

Cat A $34k

Cat B $33k

Cat C $29k

Cat D $7k+-

Cat E $34.5k

I don't see a drastic drop ,but clearly there is weak demand this week.

Prices would soften slowly.

Drop drop drop. I think many people not pressured by AD who keep saying save 10k before VES 2.0. I think people are just waiting and seeing how things will go after July.

This is the old technique, same as the previous VES and 0% growth,, but COE and car pricing still keep dropping.

My guess,

Cat. A: $32K

Cat. B: $35K

All drop as I think there is more people waiting than buying. Hopefully those ~$70K cars will keep their VES rating and drop to ~$60K range in the coming rounds!

Does this mean can tikam/self bid later?

not sure what u mean.  what this means is that at prevailing 38k COE, the difference bet 38k and 24k goes into AD pocket. at least that's what it says to me ...
