Past few days keep seeing several lorries collecting bicycles...

But dock-less bicycle sharing? Just look at Taipei. Most places have docks for bicycles and not a single mess. If the company wants to earn without spending on infrastructure, quit dreaming.

Go to Shanghai and see.

Ofo and Mobike is properly park in designated parking spot.

You will be surprised how many questionable ideas and startup got funded by smart investors. But that's their model, invest in 10 and hope 1 turns up 100 times returns. The rest can fail.

I am not surprised.

If it's questionable, angel investors would have kill it.

Angel investors don't anyhow invest.

In Singapore, operators does not even want to spend on collectors because they know there is someone driving around doing free job for them.

As compared to China, Singapore labor cost is too high.

IMHO, the main problem/mess with this current model is the dockless concept.

Why cannot demand operators who want to operate here to commit resources to build docks around the island. This way, it will sieve out all those fly by night operators (eg. Obike) looking for short term gains, make our environment neater, make non biking citizens happier, make our citizens who want to bike walk that last mile from the docks.

We can thank our dear LTA elite scholars and the minister for that.

The problem is NOT dockless concept.

The problem is inconsiderate individuals.

Go to Shanghai and see. It is more orderly than us.

But you yourself said, china has cheap labour to collect the bikes. So how much of the "consideration" is actually achieved by the paid labour?

Just like the food court: the place will look very prestine and neat if you have an army of tray clearer ready to pounce once you leave the table. Is it due to Singaporeans being considerate?

In Shanghai, the bike is park nicely at designated area.

Unlike other China cities.

Even with army of labor in Beijing, shared bike in Beijing is still messy.

If Singaporeans need a "U-Turn" sign to tell us when we can U-turn, "no urinating" sign at MSCP stairwell........dockless bike sharing? Forget it.

I had asked previously. With so much investors money raised. Where did it all go in short span of a year?  Point proven.

That is hell lot of money for just 1-2 yrs of work.

Even our cabinets and selected president can't beat that.

S$10 million of oBike Singapore users’ money transferred to Hong Kong
