2018 BMW World Of Passion And Joy Singapore.

BMW world? What world?

This is a poorer, paler version compared to previous years' renditions. Even the Singapore Car Show was more exciting and had more buzz than this poorly organised event.

Here are my top 5 banes:

  1. Online pre-registration to "avoid queues": you ended up having to queue for your paper wristbands anyway.. :a-bang:
  2. Inconsistent knowledge of sales staff: Sales staff who do not know their car models, prices, and availability.. and can give wrong information.. :a-bang:
  3. "Launch" of the new flagship Z4: what launch? It's merely put there on display. Plus the iconic front kidney grille has given way to a grille design keenly resembling a Kia (no offence to Kia owners - just stating fact) :a-bang:
  4. X7 Concept: Great - you managed to cross-breed a Land Rover Discovery with a Toyota Estima (again, no offence to LR and Toyota owners) and fenced it up so no one can take a good look.. :a-bang:
  5. Poor event layout that makes no sense - other than to overload your senses with too many paths.. :a-bang:

BONUS: Abysmal test-drive booking system that has staff telling you that they are "fully booked" and to come back at a later time, which suddenly then opens up for the next person in the line. :a-bang:

OK - sorry. I know I have nothing nice to say. But at least it's true.

Unlike most of yous I actually enjoyed it quite abit and imo the Z4 was my highlight. Along with the M2 comp with all the dry carbon bits. Drool...

As for the Z4. It wasn't a launch event. I'm fact, no one else outside of the upper bmw Asia mgmt even knew the car was going to be here in sg. Like really no one.

It even had to be driven in under body cladding as the car was unveiled in pebble beach less than 24 hrs prior.

We are prob the first people/country/region outside of pebble beach USA to see the car in real life. I'm happy to go to the event just for the z4.

Organise paid car event in sg = ppl complain is big car showroom.

Organise free car event in sg = ppl complain lousy, no big brand, not nice atmosphere.

Dunno what u all want sia. Want nice want free want dua liap.

Similar to Mock, Z4 was a surprise to me.  Currently, there is ONLY pre-production unit in the world.

1 in Singapore and another in Pebble Beach.  I was f high when i saw it.  It shows how important is this BMW world in BMW marketing strategy.

Once those racing to get to parking lots... it will be crowded.. better to take the MRT..

Went to the 2018 BMW World yesterday afternoon. Stay there for a few hours before going for dinner. Then went back again and stayed there until 9.30pm before leaving reluctantly. Couldn't help but almost shed a tear when leaving. It's gonna be another 4 years to the next show, just like World Cup.  :ouch-it-hurts:

Thanks to BMW and Mini Singapore for organising this once more.

Just a bit disappointed that the 100th anniversary BMW car, M1 homage and 3.0 CSL concept cars are not here.

Bought a 1:18 Mini Countryman S model and tons of pictures to share with everyone here.

I am there with my nephew till past 10 after it has ended. Probably walked past dach but didn't know coz we never meet before. We like it as it is not crowded and can spend time with most cars. It's unlike the Singapore motorshow.

There are ol type of race queens, not those ah Lian type.

Was impressed by the new 8 series design. Low slung, wide and sporty. Interior design is decent, but could be pretty cramped for tall people. Headroom is also very low. The glass crystal gear knob is probably the masterpiece interior design. [laugh]

Talked to the people there. It is slated for release by next year. However is not considered as the 6 series replacement but the reincarnation of the legendary 8 series.

Oh yes, one of the key highlights of this event was the cars were all open for ppl to go in unlike most other car shows. I think this was a very good initiative.
