Hmm.... I am trying to understand why the victim was not sent to the hospital in Sengkang which is only minutes away.

E-scooter woman rider taken to hospital after being hit by a lorry in Sengkang

SINGAPORE - A 34-year-old e-scooter rider was taken to hospital after she was hit by a lorry in Sengkang on Monday (Aug 27).

Police said they were alerted to an accident involving a lorry and an e-scooter at 9.47am at the junction of Sengkang East Road and Sengkang Square.

According to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, the woman was on her way back from buying groceries at the market. She had stopped her e-scooter at a traffic junction and was waiting to cross the road when she was hit by the lorry.

An eyewitness told Wanbao that the woman's arms and legs were bleeding and she was unable to move.

He added that the driver of the lorry got out of his vehicle immediately after the accident and tended to the woman. The driver appeared unharmed.

The woman was conscious when she was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The Straits Times understands that her injuries were not severe.

Police investigations are ongoing.

I am guessing that it's because seng kang hospital has just opened and might not be ready to handle this case.

Don't forget, if it was an accident, it could require a surgery by an ortho, neuro, general surg etc dept. Not severe injuries are vague. It could range from a scratch to a fracture to head injury but patient is still alert (depending on who is reporting and who the reporter talked to) and I guess they want to minimise inter hospital transfer.

Edit: if it was an emergency as in every second counts (cardiac arrest ) I think it would be a different story.

BTW I say I think because I work in the healthcare sector and I don't want anyone to think I have inside info. I don't. It's just based on experience from my years in emergency nursing. So I think only.

Could be the hospital might not have the facilities to handle? Same like when accident happened, they never send the victim to private hospital even the hospital could be secs away.

I read somewhere before, even when driven by ambulance, they don't always go to the nearest hospital for various reasons.

We cant control the discipline of those who use the PMD, there are laws, and the authorities already accepted there will be plenty of accidents (minor), a few major accidents and perhaps one or two deaths in a year or two.

My relative was sent there for emergency (near imputation of finger).

Understaffed and unattended for hours. Bang table then got attention. The doctor more interested in turning different degrees to take pictures. Finger almost dropping le... The nurse walked around as the relative (me) helped the doctor collect the blood as the wound was washed.

Then wrapped and discharged us because the hand doctor had knocked off for Wednesday and asked us to come back on Friday to fix. Quickly rushed my relative to another hospital to settle on the spot.

That kind of condition how can discharge???

What was the comment from the other doctor from the other hospital ?

Have you send a complaint to SMC to feedback regarding the doctor and hospital unacceptable behaviour ?

This is what I saw on Sengkang General Hospital website.

Oh yah, I also had to remind the KTP doctor to give painkiller injection. They did not do that until reminded several times.

The other doctor in NUH said cannot discharge. Must inject with a cocktail of drugs to ensure the finger stays alive and prevent further problems - painkillers and antibiotics plus other drugs I think. They operated on the next day. That was most important for me as discharge is the most unacceptable decision despite it being non-threatening.

They kept in a emergency holding area until they could ward my relative. Yes, I am still planning to write an official complaint.

I don't think it's ready for full operation. As of wiki it's ready on the 2nd half of 2018.

Hmm... for KTPH,  maybe they are not related ?

I had an experience where the KTPH 's A&E make referral to National Dental Centre (NDC) but not to KTPH's own dental.

In the end,  KTPH's A&E was able to refer to KTPH's own dental.

KTPH is at Yishun.

NDC is at Outram.

I feel that this is so unbelievable.

Sometimes it depends on the scdf protocol. They will hand off to different hospitals based on the district and severity. Maybe skgh hasn't fully taken control for the seng kang area yet.
