Hi peeps,

Recently got my 8 year Lexus GS450h.

Everything perfect about the car except when few days ago on the dashboard popped up “CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM”

I called borneo to check, need to order the battery will take 6-7 weeks.

Car drives fine but with slightly higher consumption.

Anyine willing to share some workshops or experiences regarding this issue?

Please help :(

Should be under warranty. 10years for all hybrids bought from Borneo.

i think previous owner replaced once... even can , borneo doesnt not have the stock so order 6-7 weeks doesnt sound any pleasing...

Sometimes if lucky, it might be the hybrid battery running too hot. For the Prius, the hybrid battery is cooled by a fan using the air in the car cabin. There is a filter there and it might be full of dust. Cleaning that filter, would restore cooling to the hybrid battery and might restore normal use. Maybe need to go to workshop to reset code.

Seriously I am sceptical on this BM claim. I really doubt it.

I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

Unlimited replacement in the first 5 years. 1 replacement thereafter. Check with BM.

It depends on what was offered when the car was bought. I cant exactly rem but they have offer 10yrs for a long while already.

Just recently sent a Axio hybrid for servicing.

They said they change the hybrid filter, although I didn't know what it is.

Now, I think it's probably the same air filter you mentioned.

Unless the workshop is experience with servicing hybrids, that filter may just be overlooked for years.

I can confirm 2009 GS450h only comes with 3+2warranty. Hybrid battery not covered after 5yrs. I checked with Borneo before selling mine.

So their 10 years warranty for battery is actually not true?

My 2009 GS450h had same problem at 4th year. Luckily still under warranty. But took 4-6weeks for order. Can still drive but performance retarded. I remember having to leave it at borneo for 3 working days to fix.

Hope yours is under warranty.... It is a 12-15k level of repair.

Depends on which batch it was bought. I can only confirm for the 2009. Apparently the later batches comes with 10yrs hybrid battery warranty.

Now we are starting to hear about hybrids issues.

It's about this time I guess. The longevity of hybrids is tested and we get real feedback

Perhaps its different in Thailand. I was the firsts who bought the very first Camry Hybrid in Thailand. At that time the car comes with only 1 standard warranty for the car.

About 1 year and 9 months after I bought the car I received a letter from Toyota, its actually a certificate of warranty for the hybrid battery for 10 years and a accompanying letter telling me that this new certificate warranty surpass the old warranty of the car. However I already sold the car.

Toyota hybrid is a proven product its been around for more than 20 years

at first i was thinking filter also but i have confirmed with a workshop error code is with the battery itself... just no way to get the battery other than 6-7 weeks with borneo

Check price of the battery/repair. If too high, then just continue driving in degraded mode. You still have a 3.5l V6 engine to drive the car so performance will be great too.

Just spend a few k more on petrol during these last 2 years.
