The lust of power and $$$ is too much to be given up. It will happen to anyone. But being detached from the ground meant very insulated.

The few things that I recalled as a teenager to adult during his term.

He did wanted to improve SG.

We managed to ban chewing gum.

GST was implemented.

We have reached the cost of living lìke Swiss.

We had the 2010 football vision that still ever evolving.

Many Stat board became split into Stat board and business entity.

Like Telecom Authority of Singapore became Singtel and IDA.

MRTC became SMRT.

PUB became SP

Think in 1996, Concept Plan for year X to develop the new financial centre, develop Punggol. Into the Master Plan

NS from 2yrs 6 month cut to 2yr 4 maths. Major decision on new aircraft purchases all F16 C/D aircraft.

Sign agreement with Australia and France to overseas detachment training.

I forgotten to add the most important changes made to SG during GCT term as PM.

It was the abolishment of Area Licensing Scheme.

And

Implementation of ERP.

At least during ALS .... can choose which car want to “tumpang” on and in essence it was the real car pooling requiring 4 pax in car and reduce carbon footprint ..... but maybe the bus companies not happy....... or govt think , all the cars entering CBD are mostly car pooling ... cannot earn one.... Singapore people too smart can find loophole Edited by BanCoe

Chok tongs legacy is nol. Everything was just downhill after that.

Wonder what he says about the chubby general in the book. Maybe some civil servant can scan that paragraph for us to see.
