Thinking of getting a JCW, the 3 door version. Is there anything that I should watch out for?

 

Is the extra power worth the premium?

 

I heard that the post 2014 versions are more reliable, is that correct?

Depends on your wants and needs. The Mini is more of a lifestyle statement, rather than a practical car with space.

that is with the N14 engine. I understand the N18 are more reliable. Just not = to Toyota, but much more reliable than the N14.

while this 2009 1.6L JCW is only 171bhp?

 

 

IMHO, this is just a dealer-anyhow-say Cooper S with a JCW spoiler. The real 2009 JCW is  1.6L Turbo 207bhp.

The JCW N14 engine stay till 2012/ 2013 even when N18 started to appear in 2010 for the cooper S. Strange.

Sometimes SGCM do not have the right model info for all models. Anyway, JCW or not, can always verify with Habitat or ask for proof.

totally agreed with you.

my 1st impression when look at the advert was this is not JCW.

too many things not right for JCW.... badge, spoiler, seats etc and most impt is the horse power.

Minis' are not cheap to maintain and repair. Need to know a good capable workshop experienced with working on these cars. I was looking at the so called JCW Cooper S on SGcar mart. Horsepower indicated is wrong, JCW should be slightly over 200bhp.

 

Was looking to get one as a daily driver, the pepper white "JCW" was on hold for another customer loan application before I could go view the car. Would do a stripdown of the car and do a GP version with paint, decals and the works including the interior plus full overhaul of the engine before putting it back on the road. 

anyway, what is the attraction with JCW ? 

 

More important to get a well-maintained Cooper S. If you want more power, there are ways ...

 

SGCM got many Cooper S

JCW is like getting a BMW M car. Factory tuned, top spec car I guess.

 

Cooper S is like a M340i and the JCW is the M3?

 

Maybe to some people.
