Check the date of manufacture, and the date should be within plus 5 years. eg...Aug 2000, and today is July 2005, that means you have only 1 month for your car to use. Be an informed buyer. In future, try to rub the oil with 2 fingers, feel the texture, and you can actually understand the quality better and knows whether it works. Megalord Neutral Newbie July 7, 2005 Share July 7, 2005 Try using ester based oils like Fuchs, redline or motul after some run with other syn oils. They turn dark damn fast. But continual use of the same ester oils seem to darken much slower. Try and experiment them. I reason with the claim that ester oils keeps your engine clean better.
