When the Mazda6 nomenclature was adopted in 2002, it heralds a new design language which Mazda calls "Zoom Zoom". 10 years later and into its third iteration, Mazda is going to rewrite the companyís design language again with its all new Mazda6 which has been officially confirmed to be unveiled in Septemberís 2012 Paris Motor Show. This announcement was made at the New York Motor Show by Mazda North American Operations.

As most followers of MyAutoblog would have known, the new Mazda6ís styling will be heavily influenced by the Takeri concept. The concept was displayed at last yearís Tokyo Motor Show as well as this yearís Geneva Motor Show and most recently, at the New York Motor Show. Mazda likes to talk about the Takeri's new design language that they call 'Kodo - Soul of Motion'.

In spite of being labeled as a 2014 model year, the new Mazda6 will go on sale during Q1 of 2013 and will feature the SkyActiv 2.0-litre petrol engine that is mated to either a 6-speed auto or 6-speed manual transmission. The motor should develop about 162bhp with 210Nm of torque. Mazda commented that it is aiming to be the class leader in fuel economy.

10 years on, the original Mazda 6 may have aged a bit but certainly does not look like it was designed a decade ago. As the Chinese saying goes "虎父无犬子"(literally meaning a tiger father has no canine sons), I am sure the all new Mazda 6 will stand out among the current generation of bland-looking Japanese sedans.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.

Frankly speaking, the side still looks pretty much like the current Mz6. Production car may not look as aggressive as this "concept car", especially from the front. The interior is also far from production ready.

The Japanese has lost its touch with regards to design. Take the new Camry, and a few other products from Acura RLX (Equivalent of the Honda Legend), as well as Infiniti models.

With looks like this, the Mazda 6 should come equipped with at least 250hp.
