In one of my earlier articles, I mentioned that Opel will unveil the all-new 1.6-litre four cylinder Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) petrol engine at the upcoming Moscow International Auto Salon. According to gminsidenews.com, this new power plant will eventually be heading to North America and Chevrolet will be the main user it.

The Chevrolet Malibu, Cruze and Sonic are all expected to receive the engine between 2014 and 2015. The next generation GMC Terrain is also expected to utilize the 1.6-litre turbo. I am looking forward to this version of the Cruze as it will finally have the firepower to go head on against the popular Jetta Sport.

The forced-fed unit will most likely make about 180bhp with 300Nm of torque. It will also be equipped with start/stop function to enhance fuel efficiency. This engine will be GM
