blogentry-133713-0-09107400-1441765833_thumb.jpgAfter selling its one millionth Hilux, Toyota South Africa decided that the best way to celebrate its milestone was to create a one-off road going version of its Dakar-spec Hilux race truck. Having won the past seven titles in the South African cross-country series and achieving good results in the Dakar race since 2012, it was only natural that Toyota should blend the normal Hilux with its racing version.

Claimed to be street legal, it gets a new heart, in the form of a 5.0-litre V8 donated from a Lexus IS F, a Dakar-spec inlet manifold, wiring harness, a Pectel Cosworth engine management and a tubular exhaust system. This allows the truck to output a staggering 449bhp and onto a top speed of more than 150km/h. We mention 150km/h because unlike true Dakar racers, the vehicle doesn’t have an air restrictor which prevents them from going faster than 150km/h.

Other goodies that come with the transformation include new differentials with lower gear ratios and larger Dakar-spec brakes.

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post. But as we know, it isn't an option to begin with – no thanks, of course, to our lack of land space.  Someone also pointed out that the idea of tiny houses is "romanticised" – which, I don't deny (but hey, that's why it's a dream). While it's clear tiny houses aren't going to work out here, the concept of 'tiny living' is; not just physically but also mentally. Anyone who has lived enough years lo
