blogentry-133713-0-53912300-1461749347_thumb.jpgVolkswagen is said to be on the verge of launching its even more hardcore Golf GTI Clubsport S variant. It is expected to be faster than the Golf R with an estimated power output of more than 300bhp.

Born to be on the track, the hottest front-wheel drive version of the Golf GTI will debut at this year’s Wörthersee Meet in May, which will also mark the 40th birthday of VW’s iconic hot hatch.

Besides the uprated power and track-focused suspension tuning, Volkswagen has also been hard at work removing unwanted mass from the car. It is rumored to have its rear seats and sound deadening materials deleted. All these weight savings should allow the Clubsport S to shave another 30-50kg off the Clubsport's 1,375kg kerbweight.

The new Megane RS Trophy R competitor is said to be limited to a run of 5,000 units and will be priced more than the Golf R.
