This is the first time in Europe and for some years now, the Model S has been outselling Mercedes-Benz's S-Class and BMW's 7-Series in America.
With 30 percent more sales in Europe this year, 16,132 Model Ss were put on the road in 2017. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz sold 13,359 S-Classes for the same year, an increase of 3 percent. BMW sold 11,735 7-Series models, a 13 percent decrease as compared to 2016.
In the States, Tesla sold 28,800 units of the Model S while Mercedes-Benz only sold 15,888 units of its S-Class last year.
