Apple's influence on Audi's future

The options list for cars may be facing a revolution in the way they are presented to customers, so Audi says. What used to be ticks in boxes may now be downloaded from your dashboard. Audi's marketing boss, Peter Schwarzenbauer has suggested that their future cars will have Iphone-style 'Apps' that can be downloaded from computer styled dashboards. For instance, if you wanted heated seats for some reason, you can download that option from your car. Of course that means pre-installing the option

Ferrari's F70 is on the way

If you thought the original Enzo was a one off car, you'd be wrong. Because there's a new one on the way. The F70 has been confirmed to be put into production and it could be released as early as next year. The ultra-light carbon fibre supercar was first previewed as the 2007 Millechili concept which weighed only a ton!   The original Enzo was built as a tribute to Ferrari's founder, and it was meant to showcase how Ferrari's F1 technology could be used on the road. And boy does the current E

HAMANN-Motorsport reworks the new 5 Series Gran Turismo

The BMW 5 series Gran Turismo is one niche-mobile too far in terms of looks. The 5 series GT has the very blunt looking front end styling of previous generation E65 7 series as well as its ride height and the X6 styling from the A pillar rearwards. It is actually the illegitimate love child of these two BMWs but somehow, like most BMW niche-mobiles it will sell decently well.   But this article isn't about making the 5 series GT sound like a total abomination as it is about HAMANN-Motorsport'

New engine lineup for Brera and Spider

Alfa Romeo recently unveiled 2 new variants of the Brera and Spider models in the UK, namely the 1750 TBI petrol and the 2.0 JTDM diesel. Both the engines are turbocharged, with the petrol and diesel versions generating 200hp and 170hp respectively.   The 1750 TBi generates 320Nm of torque, propelling the Brera from zero to 100km/h in 7.7 seconds. In the Spider, it takes 0.1 second slower but is still impressive considering that it is a cabriolet. Top speed for both models is 235 km/h. The 2.

Mark Webber does it again: Monaco F1 Grand Prix Results

Who says Monaco will be a race where it becomes a procession or a 'follow the leader race'? This time the 2010 Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix was action packed and there was action down to the wire. The final two laps were run under a safety car and just before the end of the final lap, the safety car pulled in and there was even an overtaking move made by Michael Schumacher on Fernando Alonso, which he somehow managed to pull off.   Pole sitter Mark Webber won this race which was totally action

A Porsche 911 that makes 911bhp

From what you've read earlier Porsche have just come up with an RS version of the 911 GT2. When Porsche uses the RS tagline, it usually means more power and less weight resulting in an ultra focused driver vehicle. When Porsche came out with the GT2 everyone was amazed that it only had rear wheel drive to power over 600bhp. So when you combined both the GT2 and the RS tags, it becomes nuclear. Of course, if you are in America, rich and impatient till you cannot wait for the RS or think that the

Golf GTI Excessive at Worthersee and driving the standard Golf GTI

The Volkswagen Golf GTI concept called the Golf GTI Excessive has been displayed at the annual Worthersee Show in Austria recently. The Worthersee Show started out as a gathering for Golf enthusiasts has now become an international gathering for Volkswagen and to a certain extent other cars within the Volkswagen-Audi Group. As such, this latest concept GTI follows a Volkswagen tradition of unveiling concept cars at this event.   The Excessive is a concept Golf GTI intended to showcase the late

Ferrari to cut production

Ferrari plans to halt factory production and cut jobs as a result of reduced engine orders from its sister company, Maserati. Maserati received about 4,500 engines from Ferrari in 2009, a far cry from the 9,000 delivered in 2008.   It is reported that factory workers staged a four-hour walk-out because Ferrari plans on eliminating 120 office positions and 150 factory jobs in exchange for the last payment of year 2009 bonus, which was due this past April. A total of around 3,000 people are on

Golf MKVII - VW's 7th wonder

Its hard to change the way a car performs and looks when its already incredible. But from these new images, it looks like the new Golf MkVII is going to be even better than ever before.   The Golf has always been one of those legendary cars which sustain the test of time, and throughout the years, Volkswagen's factory has been churning them out day after day, its surprising they haven't run out of ideas for a car which has been around for such a long time. And if the new model is going to loo

Cartridge filters for Cruze

Anyone that has ever done their own oil changes is familiar with the pain of trying to access and remove the filter on their engine. If you do manage to get it loose, there is the inevitable mess of oil dripping down your arm as you spin the filter off, and not forgetting that constant exposure to used engine oil can cause skin cancer.   When the new Chevrolet Cruze goes on sale later this year in the US, the engines for the first time will feature a cartridge type filter that can be removed

Star power for Alfa Giulietta

Icy-cold yet disturbingly sexy actress Uma Thurman and William Shakespeare's verses "We are such stuff as dreams are made on" are the key highlights of Alfa Romeo's advertising campaign for the new Giulietta hatchback that will kick off with a TV commercial in Italy on 16 May.   Created by Leo Burnett, the international campaign on TV, press, posters, radio and web will run across all the main countries in Europe. It is said to play on the parallelism between the star of movies such as Pulp F

Audi models to receive 8 speed autobox

The all-new A8 and updated Q7 won't be the only vehicles in Audi's line-up to benefit from the automaker's new eight-speed gearbox. The octo-cog-swapper is set to proliferate throughout the Audi line-up in the coming year.   For the 2011 model year, the A4 2.0 TFSI quattro sedan and Avant will come packing with the eight-speed tranny, along with the A5 2.0 TFSI quattro coupe and cabriolet (the manual six-speed will only be available on the coupe). In addition, the revised Q7, with its new hi

Ultimate 911 Turbo previewed: Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Whenever Porsche comes out with a 911 that is designated a 'GT2' almost everyone gets nervous. The GT2 moniker is usually reserved for a high performance version of the 911 Turbo. It is lighter than the Turbo version as Porsche threw away the all wheel drive system and made it rear wheel drive. The 996 version of the GT2 became known as a 'widowmaker' as it channeled more than 500bhp from its rear mounted engine only to the rear tires. The recipe of the engine at the wrong place and too much pow

A Land Rover for the city dweller

Land Rover has finally broken their tradition of building 4X4 for the last 60 years, and come up with this; a Front Wheel Drive only Land Rover. Its currently called the 'Land Rover Compact' and by looking at its dimensions, you can understand where its name was derived. The Compact is still in its concept stage but it is very near production ready and this is probably Land Rover's best bet at infiltrating the un-Land Roverish land of Singapore...   People here would question, why would I need

BMW's 2011 3 Series: Will it be a winner?

When the latest BMW 5 series dropped its cover in recent months, everyone was raving about how it looks much better than the previous model, how its better equipped, more fuel efficient and the list goes on. However, that's just the beginning. Because this is what the new 3 series will probably look like, and I must say, it looks pretty good.   Underneath the bold, masculine lines along the side panels and that aggressive looking hood which kind of reminds me of the previous 5 series, lies a

Ferrari's CEO Amadeo Felisa speaks his mind on future Ferraris

The CEO of Ferrari Mr Amadeo Felisa had some interesting remarks during an interview with UK magazine Autocar at the recent 2010 Beijing Motor Show. One of this was on the need for Ferrari to produce eco-friendly cars as we've seen when Ferrari displayed the 599HY- KERS hybrid car at a recent motor show.   Of course, Ferrari purists may be fuming by this blasphemy, especially where a compromise must be made over the pursuit of power and handling over the environment. For most, a compromise to

Safety car from Alfa Romeo

This here is the Alfa Romeo Giulietta that will serve as this year's safety car at the SBK World Superbike Championship. It is based on the range-topping Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde that's motivated by a 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumping out 235 horsepower.   That's good enough to propel the standard production car from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 242 km/h or 151 mph.   Alfa Romeo has not released any specific details on the safety car vers
