Shanghai F1 Grand Prix - Nico Rosberg's first F1 win

The Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix in Shanghai on April 15 was an interesting race and one that Nico Rosberg won after taking part in 111 F1 races. And now that little jinx has been settled, we may see an increase in confidence in the German driver (He is half Finnish and half German) much like how Jenson Button winning his first race and then go on to winning a world championship.   Of course, the win was in a way handed to him by the fact that his Mercedes Petronas F1 team mate Michael

When it comes to automatic transmissions, four speed auto transmissions are fast getting replaced with more advanced auto transmissions. More automakers are introducing six, seven and even eight speed automatic transmission into their vehicles nowadays.   These introductions are made mainly for fuel efficiency reasons, to get more kilometres out of their fuel consumption usage. But, there are also some automakers such as Nissan, who are moving towards the usage of continuously variable

Transport lessons from Govt's housing policies

IT SEEMS obvious by now that the Government's handling of housing issues has been the most successful of several outstanding policy issues. At least, this is going by the results of a recent Straits Times survey on key election issues and their progress since the 2011 General Election.   By contrast, government policies on transport issues have yet to resonate.   What factors have led to the success in housing policy? What lessons can be applied to transport issues? Three points come to mind

No testing of autonomous cars, says China

China has banned highway testing of autonomous vehicles while the country's relevant authorities work out the rules about autonomous car testing.   According to Auto News, a Europe publication, a draft of the rules has been drawn up and it is believed that it will rule out highway testing of autonomous cars which in turn will definitely delay development of such technologies by the local firms. If true, this means that testing will be restricted to smaller local roads which hamper the testing

2018 R35 GT-R enters service as a patrol car in Japan

Nissan Japan revealed that a brand new R35 GT-R has been donated to the local police force in Tochigi and it will start work as a patrol car soon.   The car was delivered a few days ago at a special ceremony without any mention of modifications.   Assuming that it is stock will mean that the car has 565bhp, courtesy of its twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine. After more than a year later after Ken Block and his Hoonigan team teased us with their latest film, Gymkhana Ten is finally here.   Obviously the 10th film of the series, Ken Block new film features five different Fords in five different locations, bucking the previous series' trend of having one car at one location.   Included in the video is his latest vehicle, the 1977 F-150 Hoonitruck and a drift truck looks cooler than his other cars in our opinion. Elsewhere in the film, one can also

The concept could become Jaguar's first mega performance vehicle since the cancellation of the XJ220 in 1994.   When Jaguar introduces the supercar at the Paris Motorshow, they will drop a bombshell. The car will race to 300 km/h n 15.7 seconds, over a second faster than the Bugatti Veyron. However, where the Veyron continues on to 407 km/h, the C-X75 tops out at 330 km/h. The electric bug: Volkswagen E-Bugster Concept

The 2012 Detroit Motor Show is considered one of the biggest auto exhibitions in the United States and that is the best time and place for an automaker to showcase a new model. Some groups have wondered what Volkswagen will debut at the abovementioned show.   There were rumoured reports that Volkswagen is coming up with a convertible version of the current generation Beetle. It seems that those reports were pretty close but still not close enough as Volkswagen has introduced an all-elec

Not much details were available at that time besides a rendered image of the car. Now, more technical news about the baby suv has been revealed.   Many speculated the model name while some were certain that it would be named the Porsche Cajun, but the German automaker has given a different name all together-the Macan. Chevrolet Corvette c6 owner can control his car remotely

This guy on YouTube has managed to create a remote control system that allows him to drive his Chevrolet Corvette remotely. And to add on, he claims that it can be controlled solely through a universal remote control and with a bit of work, the whole system could be installed into any other car.   Amazingly, the interior shot of the car shows us that there are no visible signs of it being remote controlled. It is not like some of the research cars that other manufactures have built that requi

McLaren P1 for the whole family

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT4hbdJElWMMcLaren is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the P1 in little ways — little, littler and littlest. Touting it as alternative-fueled, McLaren has announced a "foot-to-floor" P1 for the under-3-year-old set. It makes two pounding feet of torque. As McLaren says, "0-200 metres-per-hour acceleration entirely biscuit dependent."   This joins the McLaren P1 electric Ride-On, for the slightly older brother or sister. Now, this baby can do up to 3 mph. And
