Cyclist chose to endanger both his and his children's lives by beating a red light

Somehow or rather, cyclists are always associated with poor road behaviour or being a road pest. Watch the video below and find out why it isn't difficult for the public to feel that way: What Happened? A Toyota Rav 4 was waiting for pedestrians to finish crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing before performing his left turn.  Despite a blinking green man signal with 2 seconds left on the timer, a cyclist from the other side of the road made a last-minute decisi

Let

The presidential election (PE) is heating up, with 4 Mr Tans as presidential hopefuls. When I think of the President, the image of him walking out of the official state car during National Day comes to my mind. The official state car is a car used by a government to transport its head of state in an official capacity. It also serves as an automotive symbol of the head of state and their country. Accordingly to Wikipedia, part of the criteria for an official state car is to have adequate security

Why the VW Scirocco does not rock my boat

Recently a friend of mine was interested in 'upgrading' his Mazda Roadster (that's Miata MX5 to most of you) to a 2+2. Choices included the BMW 320Ci, the Audi A5 and even the Volkswagen Scirocco. We had a small discussion on the cars mentioned above.   It made me take a long look at the Scirocco and I realized why I never caught on with its looks or why it didn't make me weak in the knees even though it drove extremely well, had a great sports car driving position and was very well put

This might be how the facelifted Camry will look like

Toyota debuted its global market XV-50 Camry at the recent Moscow Motor Show and this might be pretty close to the ASEAN version which we should be receiving in the not-too-distant future.   As seen in the photos, the exterior gets a refreshed front end which includes new headlamps that would likely be LED-powered as seen on its younger brother, the Altis.     The rear receives a similarly slight amount of restyling, comprising of a new rear bumper and new taillights. The rims are also ne

Herd mentality gone wrong! Pedestrians try their luck and almost gets sent to heaven by a driver

These impatient pedestrians receive the lesson of a lifetime for dashing across a junction when the traffic light is still red. Last week, a motorcyclist captured the moment when a group of pedestrians decided to abandon the rules of the road for their own.  The incident occurred at a junction in Clementi Road, just opposite the Police K9 unit. With the green man signal counting down the last few seconds, the group of pedestrians decided that there was still enough time for t

Good Samaritan saves petrol attendant from a scheming S.O.B customer 👿👿👿

Ladies & Gentleman, I would like to have your attention for a minute. As I was surfing the net to look out for newsworthy content (actually, I am looking out for goondu blueSG drivers) to share with everyone, I happened to chance upon the 'crook of the century' bullying a petrol attendant by insisting that he only asked to pump $15 worth of petrol instead of a full tank. Fortunately, Kelvin the Samaritan, who shared this piece of news on social media after, decided to help the petr

The Lancia Stratos is back!

Though we have never seen a Lancia on Singaporean roads before, nor heard the growl of the Stratos, I'm sure many car enthusiasts here know about the striking design which left an impression on many and some even dream of owning one. Well, a wealthy man who chose to remain anonymous, has decided to resurrect the lost soul. And now its back on the test track with a modern/retro design which some may love, or hate..   The one thing that made the Stratos so outstanding was the way it looked. It w

Transcab taxi VS Audi A6: A clash of egos on the expressway

Transcab taxi drivers are notorious for their driving behaviour among the various taxi companies.  It is an impression that the public has developed over time, which I couldn't agree more. Here's why: Warning: This video contains excessive flashing lights. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, please do not watch the video What Happened? In the TikTok video posted by the cam bike, a Transcab taxi furiously chases an Audi A6 down an expressway. From the cam bike'

Cyclists in two separate videos disregard the red light and experience instant ragret

Within the past 24 hours, two unrelated cases of vehicles knocking over cyclists have surfaced on Facebook. The only thing constant in the equation? Both cyclists disregarded the red man and cycled across the road anyway. Both incidents took place yesterday (July 5), with the first one being at Choa Chu Kang and the second one at Sembawang. In the first video, a female driver was driving straight ahead across a road junction along Choa Chu Kang Dr after noticing that the light had turn

Official photo of the new Suzuki Swift Sport released

Suzuki has released the first official photo for the all new Swift Sport.   Set to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a few month's time, the car looks pretty much similar to the normal Swift other than the rims and the more aggressive bumper.   No other details were released from Suzuki but the car is expected to weigh under 900kg, which is significantly lighter than the previous generation by nearly 200kg.   It is also expected to be powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged inlin

Porsche unveils lower-powered Cayman and Boxster in Europe

Porsche recently launched a lower-powered Cayman and Boxster for Belgium and Norway to comply with emissions and taxes. Called the Cayman 211 and Boxster 211, both of them are basically de-tuned versions of the base versions that we get here and are rated at 208bhp ( or 211ps, hence the name).   Not surprisingly, they both use the same 2.7-litre boxer engine that originally produces 261bhp in the Boxster and 271bhp in the Cayman.   In this state of tune, the Cayman gets to 100km/h in 6.2 se

Special cars for that special wedding

Renting a special wedding car will make your big day a fun experience filled with special memories. As most couples would agree, fancy wedding cars are great for taking lovely and cool photographs and for arriving in style. An elegant and beautiful wedding car will definitely be something the newlyweds can reminisce about as they celebrate their anniversaries in years to come.   Many couples borrow a friend's vehicle, rent one or use their own car for the big day. There are also some that have

Peugeot is stepping it up...

A few weeks ago, a former colleague of mine told me about Peugeot bringing in a very interesting piece some time this year. It wasn't until recently that she managed to give me a name for that new model. It's the Peugeot RCZ. The model name sounds more appropriate for one of my RC cars but that aside, the car is absolutely stunning!     Those voluptuous curves look like an automotive representation of how Liv Tyler would be if she had four wheels and an engine. On closer inspection though

BMW designs new subway for Kuala Lumpur

Between the unfortunate saga of flight MH370 and the recent Grand Prix, Malaysia has been on the radar more than usual lately. And now our neighbour has popped up again, once more related to transportation issues, as Kuala Lumpur is working on a new subway system. Which isn't something we'd normally care about, but this subway just happens to have been designed by BMW.   Or one of its divisions, anyway. While BMW makes all manner of automobiles and motorcycles and even has a background in av

Empty lots everywhere, but this LalaMove driver decides to hit a parked car while reverse parking

Back to the age-old question - Is it easier to park with or without cars around you?  In the forum discussion above, many said that it is easier to park with cars around you.  Well, I would think otherwise. Watch this clip and find out why: This incident happened at an open-air carpark, located at 877 Tampines Street 84.  What happened? The Lalamove driver, who was driving a Renault SUV, was caught on cam reversing into a PARKED AND STATIONARY Perodua.

Carpark Review: NEX

Ugh. Nex. What an absolutely terrible place to drive to.  Manoeuvrability: Tight or not?  Narrow up and down ramps, lots are not very big. Poor. In-bound and out-bound traffic also mixes, so during peak hours its slowwwww moving. And because its narrow, once a person needs to enter/exit the lot, all traffic comes to a halt. And, let’s also not forget about the sharp u-turn on the second last floor before exiting.  1/10 Ease of navigation: Confusing or not?  T

Zotye T700 - The poor man's Porsche Macan

Established in 2005, Zotye, an automobile manufacturer based in Zhejiang, China, revealed its new T700 recently. And there is no doubt that it is modeled after Porsche's mid-sized SUV, the Macan. While the lights do differ from the real thing, the rest of the T700 is almost a direct copy and paste exercise. Even the shape of the door handles are almost identical!   According to Chinese media, Zotye plans to launch the mid-size model later this year offering a choice of 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre

Range Rover Evoque? Look again...

We don’t know if you noticed it, but Landwind's, or rather Land Wind's, new X7 looks like the Range Rover Evoque – a lot, actually.   And it couldn’t come at a worse time for Land Rover as the British firm just started production of the Evoque in China with its local partner Chery Automobile Company.     We're not just talking about some vague similarities between the two SUVs, but a visually very close copy – go ahead, call it a clone, no one will blame you…   Landwind is hosting the w

Entitled BMW 730LI driver causes a massive 30-minute jam at a carpark gantry over a measly $10 parking fee(?)

With advanced technologies these days, drivers never (or hardly) get charged with incorrect parking fees. Even if there is such an occurrence, it is often the driver's fault - Eg. Driving out of MSCP without renewing season parking, forgetting to remove cashcard before inserting complimentary parking coupon (The list goes on). And sadly, all we can do as drivers is to suck it up, pay our "tuition fees", and learn from our mistakes. However, this entitled BMW 730LI driver did other

Official A-Class 2012 leaked

French automobile website automobile-magazine.fr managed to get hold of these images of the upcoming A-class set to be released in 2012. And from the looks of it, its not a far cry from the radical concept that was shown to the world at both the Shanghai and New York Auto Shows.   While the concept had a more sleek 3 door coupe stance, the production model obviously moved toward the practical approach with a 5 door version which suggests that both variants will be offered in the A-Class lineup

Swedes invent invisible bike helmet

One of the worst things about commuting on a bicycle is how hot it can get underneath your helmet. No one wants to arrive at work with unkempt locks, misshapen after being crammed under a sweltering headpiece.   Tired of strapping ugly, uncomfortable styrofoam-and-plastic turtle shells to their heads, a pair of Swedish women came up with a pretty revolutionary solution that does manage to give you full head protection without, remarkably, wearing anything on your head.   When we first saw th

Skoda Superb: Affordable yet Capable

Skoda adds yet more incentive to opt for its excellent Superb with its 1.8 TSI variant, so naturally we take one up North into the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia to test it out. Despite being a more affordable alternative, the Superb Ambition didn't disappoint at all. From the inside at least, the 8.0-inch infotainment system was still intuitive to use, with two physical knobs to control the volume and scroll through menus, while the car remained very compliant and comfortable on the road th

A cam car tries to shame two Honda Civic Type-Rs online, but the plan backfires faster than when that VTEC kicks in

TL;DR – A driver of a cam car (make and model unknown) took their grievances online to shame two Honda Civic Type-R drivers for dangerous driving. Unfortunately, things did not work out as planned. Netizens ended up flaming the driver of the cam car instead.   A cam car driver was overtaken by not one but TWO Honda Civic Type-Rs along the CTE and decided to call out the two Type-R drivers for reckless and dangerous driving. In an unexpected twist, netizens started flaming the cam

Dual-clutch and manual transmissions on their way out

Just when we thought dual-clutch transmission is the way forward, someone from BMW reckons that the fast shifting transmission might be replaced with the conventional torque converter-based automatic.   As seen in Motor Authority, Peter Quintus, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at BMW M, said he expects manual and dual-clutch transmissions to be phased out in the coming years. Other than the obvious low demand for manual transmission, he explained that manuals have poor durability when
