Many carbon fibre parts were used to build the Lexus LFA and because of this, Toyota has pumped in a significant amount of money on carbon fibre manufacturing. This was done to reduce the costs of producing carbon fibre parts.

After the last Lexus LFA rolled out of its production facility in December last year, the company had no other use for the lightweight material in a production model.

So, what will happen to the carbon fibre facility that they have? Instead of shutting it down, Toyota will introduce future models with carbon fibre components.

Toyota has unveiled a concept model at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon and the car receives a carbon fibre roof. The vehicle is a Mark X and it is named the Toyota Mark X G Sport Concept. The carbon fibre material replaces the steel roof and it reduces 5.8kg off the overall weight.

It also lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity by an eighth of an inch. Although this may not sound like much to some people, but every little measure count. And this may also be the beginning of more usage of carbon fibre parts in the car which, in a way, helps to improve performance.

Toyota did not reveal whether they will include the carbon fibre roof into the production version of the Mark X G Sport or if the concept is a one-off creation just for the auto show.

Whatever the company decides on, I feel that only the premium grade models will get the carbon fibre treatment as it is an expensive material to manufacture.

Construction on Jurong Region Line to start next year

Construction works for five stations on the new Jurong Region Line (JRL) are expected to start next year and slated for completion in 2026. The five stations are Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West, Tengah, Hong Kah and Corporation, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said yesterday. The authority has awarded two contracts worth $739.5 million to construct the five MRT stations. The stations will form part of JRL, Singapore's seventh MRT line, which is set to open in three stages from 2026. Comprising 24 stations, the line was announced last year to improve connectivity in the Jurong area, with the aim of boosting the area's transformation into a second Central Business District.

    American Muscle vs. German Engineering

We found a video online showing these two V10 monsters on the road and it was a close fight.   The two cars on the video showcase the Audi R8 V10 PP-Performance vs Dodge Viper SRT10 Hennessy. Both mods bring up the car to over 600HP and over 1000HP respectively making these two cars speed kings. Their reported acceleration brings both cars from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and 4.1 seconds respectively.   https://youtu.be/_IGqg2xeN4o   Yet both cars are quite different. We have added in a comparison table for the standard specs on both the 2017 V10 models:     Again both cars are a beauty to behold leading us to the ultimate question.   If you had the opportunity to drive these beauties which one of them will end up on your bucket list?   The V10 Easter Giveaway Which camp do you belong to? New Chevrolet Cruze Eco launched

Even before the Cruze made its international debut some one and a half years ago, there were talks about a 1.4L turbo version. The talk is now over and this variant of the American model was finally unveiled at the New York Auto Show, called the Cruze Eco.   Starting with the front of the Eco, there's a new, wind tunnel-massaged front fascia complete with a class-first "Aero Shutter." Take a look at the air inlet area below the grill. During low speed city driving, the aero shutter is open. However, at higher speeds when cooling the turbocharged engine isn't as much of an issue, the shutter shuts to allow air to move more efficiently around the vehicle in order to reduce drag. There's a full-body underpanel to keep air from getting hung up on stuff like the exhaust and suspension components, as well as ultra low rolling resistance tires shared with the Volt. The Cruze Eco is only available with a manual option at the moment, which means that its chance of a Singapore debut is slim. The manual Cruze Eco has an ultra-tall 6th gear that allows the rpms to greatly drop when the vehicle is at cruising speed.   The 1.4L Turbo powerplant features variable-valve timing technology and generates 138 horsepower @4,900 rpm, together with 148 pound-feet of torque @1,850 rpm.
