Nissan has released a teaser image of the revived Datsun brand, showing the design cues of the front fascia. The image suggests that the first Datsuns will have a small honeycomb grille with a chrome frame. The headlights adopt an angular shape.

 

According to Nissan, the Datsun models will have a strong independent brand identity. Late last year, a Nissan executive in Europe said that the Datsun models will share a platform with the Lada Kalina, a supermini produced by the Russian automaker AvtoVAZ and sold under the Lada brand.

 

Lada will join the Renault-Nissan alliance with the vehicles sharing mechanical components. However, Nissan assured that Datsuns will have different exterior and interior styling.

 

Along with the release of the teaser image, Nissan has announced that Datsun cars will be offered in South Africa, in addition to the previously planned markets of Russia, Indonesia and India.

 

Nissan phased out the Datsun brand in March 1986. The Datsun name is most famous for the 510 (below), Fairlady roadsters and later the Fairlady (240Z) coupes.

    New Citroen C3 photos leaked ahead of launch

    Citroen’s supermini, the C3 has been leaked online ahead of its official debut. Spotting many styling cues from its siblings, it looks refreshingly funky. The stand out air bump body cladding also looks much more cohesive in design here than its C4 Cactus brother.   Taken from Autodato, the photos reveal that the car can be had with a two-tone color scheme and according to the site, the car is available from a mix of nine colours for the bodywork and three for the roof.   Inside, the car gets a brand new dashboard that also reminds one of the C4 cactus's dashoard. One of the more interesting feature of the car is its ConnectedCam where an onboard High-Definition camera takes pictures and short videos of up to twenty seconds at a 120-degree angle. Details are not clear yet but it is said to be similar to most aftermarket in-car cameras. Elsewhere, boot capacity is said to be 300 litres and it is likely to get three- and four- cylinder petrol and BlueHDi diesel units.

    You are looking at the fastest 0-100km/h EV in the world

    Nicknamed 'the Grimsel', this cute little vehicle built by students at AMZ Racing, is the new world's fastest 0-100km/h Electric Vehicle (EV). Built by students from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences, it is designed to be raced in the International Formula Student championship.   Considering they are just student (no doubt very bright ones), we feel they did a pretty impressive job to be able to get their car into the record books with a 0-100km/h timing of just 1.785 seconds. In case you are wondering, the previous record stood at 2.134 seconds.   So how did they managed to achieve such an awesome timing? For a start, each wheel has its own motor which outputs 49bhp. Which also means these AMZ-made motors effectively makes the Grimsel an all-wheel drive car. With traction control and torque vectoring software thrown into the mix, you can be sure it will have no traction issues when the full 1630Nm of torque is deployed.     Two Koenigsegg Agera Final Edition revealed

    Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg, has revealed its final two Ageras. They are individually named Thor and Vader, which are also part of the trio of Final Editions for Koenigsegg.   Thor and Vader are based on the record-setting Agera RS and come with a set of bespoke aerodynamic parts.   Both cars are equipped with new front carnards, revised front and rear spoilers and the 1MW engine upgrade. This means that with the upgrade, the car's twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 prodcues 1,000kW or 1,341bhp.   Other than the paint work that differs on both cars, Thor gets a large central fin for increased high-speed stability and features   Koenigsegg’s active aero agenda why Vader doesn't. Meanwhile, Vader gets a different set of rear wing which is bigger and is supported by strakes with unique cutouts that reveal the inner workings of the active rear wing.   The new Thor and Vader will be driven by their owners for the first time this weekend at a special Koenigsegg event in Germany.
