Toyota FT-86 Open concept revealed ahead of Geneva debut

Toyota has released the official images of the FT-86 open concept ahead of its world premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The concept bears a similar front fascia as the coupe version but the hardtop is replaced by an electrical-operated soft top. The boot and windscreen have also been modified.

Toyota commented that the convertible conveys a feeling of oneness with nature while maintaining the joy and sense of oneness with the vehicle. When it goes into production, the very successful Mazda MX-5 will have a new rival.

The interior of the FT86 Open Top features contrasting white and navy blue tones on the dashboard, seats and steering wheel. The floor is laid with yellow-gold carpeting. Other highlights include alloy pedals and metallic accents.

Toyota has yet to release the engine specifications, but it should inherit the 2.0-litre four cylinder, direct-injected boxer engine from its hardtop sibling. The naturally-aspirated lump is good for 200bhp and 205Nm of torque.

Comprising 24 stations, the line was announced last year to improve connectivity in the Jurong area, with the aim of boosting the area's transformation into a second Central Business District.

Rallying Porsche in a spectacular crash

http://dai.ly/x151mnc Motorsports crash scenes are one of the most popular. While we are no sadists, these scenes usually add that bit of extra spice and drama to the sports. But of course, some are more spectacular than others.   Let's start by saying even by rally crash standard, this is terrifying. All we can tell is that the driver locked up his brakes, failed to negotiate a turn, went straight into the barrier - and the rest is history.   Fortunately, both the driver and co-driver are unhurt from the accident.

NHTSA investigates second Tesla Autopilot crash

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that it will be investigating a second Tesla Autopilot related crash. The crash which happened during the first week of July, comes just after the another Autopilot related crash that happened in May.   The driver who was in the Model X that crashed, was hospitalised with light injuries. It is reported by Carscoops that the car was on its self-driving Autopilot mode when it hit a guardrail, flipped and landed on its roof.   Tesla investigated the accident but was unable to determine if the system was or wasn't engaged, as the car's data transmitting antenna was severely damaged. The company then went on to claim that the Autopilot system was not at fault based on the data they had.
